Bedding a Choate Stock???

I think the front goes to 35 or 40 inch lbs, rear around 17, that's what I do, make sure you bounce the gun on the floor while you tighten just light bounces this will ensure the lug stays against the bedding

FWIW, the Savage Predator I have in a XLR chassis is 50in/lb front & Rear. I've never fiddles with different values. My other stocks (Manners/MCM etc) have pillars and bedding, they get torqued to 40in/lbs front & rear.

As far as tools go, I use a Snap-on adjustable in/lb screw driver 5-40in/lbs and a Snap-On 1/4" torque wrench for anything over 40in/lbs. Expensive but the quality and warranty are worth every penny.

I use a snapon dial wrench (0-600 inch pound) and torque evenly, when I have had shifting groups it has nearly always been the rear that shifts, you could see the wider polishing on the tang from either the pillar or v

TM if you don't mind me asking what do you torque too?

Barrel came in last night...recoil lug today or tomorrow...I hope the fluted bolt by friday. So I hope I'm going to be in the gun assembly mode this weekend.
