Earlier this year I built a 338 Edge based largely on what I learned here, for an elk hunt this fall. This was a Remage build, all built myself. I had shot to 833 yards with groups 1.3-2.5 inches.

Today I had the chance to shoot a match which stayed at 1000 yards and went back 1100, 1300, 1500, then every 100 to 2000. You had to score a minimum to move back and I made it to 2000, which was a minority of shooters. Learned a lot, what a blast. Shot very well to 1800, last two stations the wind got hard with no flags.

I feel much more prepared going into my hunt with this extreme load validation at ranges beyond what I would entertain on game.

Looks like a good time ATH, heck of a nice place to shoot.
That's what most folks are lacking, opportunity to shoot at such ranges.

Camp Atterbury, IN; this is the range the SEAL teams use for sniper training. Picked up a ton of their 300WM brass there. Probably the only place to shoot like this for several states around.

Turns out I was 3rd/12. Given I thought I was suffering pretty well in the later stages from shoulder bruising and dehydration (I had to run pit duty for 4 hours in the heat before I could shoot) I am extremely happy with that.

You are lucky to have access to such a place. We have ranges (several with pits) on post that stretch out a little ways. They allow a civilian gun club to use one and I have been trying to put together a military only club but am getting the cold shoulder. My unit uses the ranges more than anyone and all are qualified to run them. Seems no one wants to approve it, a common theme (problem) with most high ranking individuals. If it doesn't benefit them directly then it's a no-go.
