I have a technical question. I think that there may be two reamers used for the Edge. Both are called, Standard size. However, I believe the difference is in the length of the throating. Now I am not nor claim to be anything near an expert on this topic, but, I read claims of over 4" OALs where I know that my loads impact the riflings well before those measurements could be accomplished. So, either there is a second reamer out there also being called "Standard" (compared to the one that bored my chamber) or the Long Throated version is being called, "Standard".
My Lead measurements are 0.165, and my Throat measurements are 0.148. For an overall length of 3.277"..
Does anyone know anything about this?

I should know but I can't find my reamer specs from PTG. It may be on the reamer tang but it's too late to go into the shop.

My CA Classic Carbon in 300 RUM has an OAL to rifling of 4.014 I have to single shot or set COAL at 3.6021 to fit mag. Seems to like the jumps but am still tweaking favorite loads at this juncture.

You need to check your math on the OAL length. You would have to use a bullet with a nose that is only about .250" long to have a 3.277" OAL. The Berger 250 & 300 gr hunting bullets have a nose that is almost an inch long. Either one of those bullets will put you real close to a OAL of 4.0" at land contact with a .165" freebore.

As for reamers with different specs, I would be surprised if there aren't dozens of them.

There are lots Of variations of the EDGE And there are No standard because they are all wildcats. The original EDGE is simply made by necking up the 300 RUM to 338. there are many others that Have changes to the parent case as mentioned with longer/shorter Throats,
More or less Freebore, Different lead angles, Different shoulder angles, ETC so you will have to decide what you want.

The simple choice is to go with the first Edge (A 300 Necked up to 338) Because it will fit the magazine and performance will be within 100 ft/sec of the others loaded to max SAMMI pressures.

Reamer for this cartridge are easy to find and normally trouble free. Also fire forming the brass is very easy. all you have to do is size the neck up without moving the shoulder and you are good to go.

You can get tricky with the changes, but you gain very little except problems. Start with the basic Edge and then decide if you want more. There is one change that helps the Edge without changing
everything else and that is the 338 Edge AI (Still the same COAL, but with more case capacity and a better shoulder design.

Just My Opinion

i cant find my print either so i had Jolene at ptg resend me my print , I should see it today. my coal is 4.04 to the lands with a 300 otm. my reamer doesnt say the FB it just says .338 edge Match
Mine is the same.

Ok, here is what I have. 338 Edge Fin... Screenshot_20170815-084912.png

The lead/freebore shown on that reamer print isn't .165", it is .148". The .165" length is the freebore plus the transition angle. The throat measurement isn't .148", it is .257". But the throat length shown isn't the actual length. It is a 1.5° angle calculated to a bore diameter of .325". The actual bore diameter is .330". The 3.277" length shown isn't the COAL, it is the length from the bolt face to that same point of a 3.25" bore diameter. Your bullet nose extends well beyond that point.

Correct.. I understand the 3.277 isn't my COAL, just the max on the chamber. My point is this.. that even if I took the 300 Berger and used all of the 0.165" Lead (touching the lands) then add the nose, 0.945" I would still come up short @ 3.965". So if and when I load them there is just as much, 0.955+" inside the case. To me that seems excessive, especially when it begins compressing what I would call normal powder charges. Am I wrong in thinking that the Lead area should be a good bit longer...0.050"-0.125" to accommodate these?

this is what she sent me. its been 4 or 5 years since I bought the reamer and the only thong that seems a bit different on the print is my neck measures .370 and the print says .369 but the freebore looks right, when I ordered the reamer Dave set it up for the 300 otm or 285 amax and single feeding
