I'm thinking of buying a 5-25 HD5 . I have no experience with them , but I own a old conquest scope that I like. How are the new ones ? Anyone have any positive or negative experience?

I Have 4- 5-25x50 hd5's and 2- 3-15 x42 all on hunting rifles.
They do not have enough adjustment for super longrange but are great to about 1000yds.
25x is enough to see bullet holes at 300 yds on a good day
Very sharp and clear. they are not to heavy.
All mine have duplex #20 reticles and turretts.
The zero stop feature is very short at 16-17 moa.
I just remove it.
Mine are not for sale so I must like them.
CAll Dick at REDHAWK RIFLES in CO for the best Prices on all Zeiss.

That are great scopes as mentioned above but not super long range. I have 3 of the hd5 series and 2 original conquest. I have a 5-25 with the rapid z 1000 reticle and 2 of the 3-15x50 with rapid z 800. I am doing some upgrading and scope thinning at the moment so the 5-25 and 1 of the 3-15 is for sale here in the classifieds. If you have any interest pm me and I can send you the links and answer any other questions (great prices vs buying new).

The "HD" models glass was no better than previous models not listed as HD so that was kind of disappointing, for a 1" tube they should weigh less, 1" tube doesn't give much elevation, if using the zero stop you only get one turn. You could make it work, depends on how far you are looking to shoot.

Not a good scope for hunting In the cold. On a higher note, the thing spent more time at ziess usa and ziess Germany than i owned the scope after purchasing it. Glad my local gun store let me return it is all i can say.

Just a side not. Been reading alot of US hunting forums lately and I have noticed that so many people write ziess instead of zeiss. Is that on purpose ?

Normally in American English "i" comes before "e" except after "c". But who knows what anyone does anything?

I did a comparison with one of those the other day with a Bushnell 6500 4 1/2-30X50. The Bushnell was better and lighter by 1/2 ounce on a postal scale. I posted the results here in another thread.

I have one on a 264 WM that I like. I don't dial that scope though. Good clarity and very good early morning/late evening sharpness. Tracks well and holds up to the recoil (it was on a 338 then a 300 and now the 264). Though for a bit less $$ I'm starting to like my Sig Whiskey 5 3-15x44 a bit better.
