looking for a do all rifle

In the 260 class chambering the 140 Berger is impossible to beat IMO, they penetrate better than what we're seeing with the ELD and ABLR at higher impact heavy hits while still opening well enough on soft hits. I'm seeing way less meat loss with the Berger because it's not blowing open on the hide which I like.
 
I was thinking of trying the 129ablr
Or Berger 130
For a lighter load for the kid to shoot

Any thoughts
 
Well both rifles have 3 lug bolts so that's a good thing foe several reasons like more positive cartridge feeding, low bolt handle lift and fast cycling.

Get the Tikka. There are a lot more aftermarket times made for it. The Browning A-Bolt or X-Bolt are nice if you prefer them. I have an original A-Bolt in .300 Win mag.

just built a .260, still working up a ideal load.

I have never shot know medium or long range targets before. after barrel break in and getting a sub moa group, Chrono the load and I took it to a friends range. I shot steel at 550 yards first shot. I had never done that before but so far I have to say I love the .260

Just for the record, I own a .308 and .243 as well but if I had to choose only one right now it would be the .260

The Tikka is a two lug design.
 
couldn't be happier with the tikka ctr in 260. topped it with a vortex gen2 pst 5-25, and it's lightyears ahead of the gen1.

so far i've worked up for the 140 hdy bthp and eld-x.

now i gotta work up a lead free for some cali mulies

For varmints and medium game at any range it's a great round when matched with the right bullet. The same holds true even for large game at reasonable ranges.

When considering the utility of the .260 just look to the 6.5x55, a round that has taken every species of large and even dangerous game around the globe for almost a hundred years.

The two are near ballistic equivalents with a slight advantage going to the .260.
