Man, I haven’t checked this in a long time, looks like there has been some traffic. I ended up going with a redding type S full length bushing die and it worked great. Just tried to over complicate things a couple years ago when I started the project.
I’m still waiting on the 22 Grendel barrel to come in. PF does great work but the one off jobs take a while. It’s like buying a suppressor. The 22 Creed is a tack driver for sure but wasn’t throated long enough not to jam the 90’s that I wanted to shoot up into the lands so 75 eld-m it is.
As others have mentioned, velocity plays a big roll in ELD-X bullet performance. Running the 200 gr at 2840 I find my 200 yard and in kills to be quite destructive. Understanding the give and take of the bullet I just aim back off the shoulder for a center lung shot on closer game and am able to...
I’ve only purchased one barrel from McGowen but it was better than I could have hoped for from any custom smith and their customer service is outstanding.
Have to throw another vote in for the 12.5” Grendel pistol. I built a 10.5” Grendel SBR which has worked great on deer and hogs out to 200 yards but I wish I had gone a little longer to stretch that range out. I’ve been using the 123gr SST’s but have been curious enough about the 90gr Speer to...
I set up a 10.5” 6.5 Grendel SBR for my kids to hunt with. They shoot it suppressed so the shorter barrel keeps it from being as cumbersome in tight situations and all their shot opportunities are inside 200 yards. One of my daughters shot her buck last year at age 7 with the 123 grain sst from...
