Do you put anything between your rings and scope tube?

When I was a raw kid back in the 1970s, I think I remember reading (Jack O'Conner maybe, maybe someone else), about putting thin strips of paper on the top and bottom ring before mounting scopes. So, I did, I used those address strips you get from outfits like Trout Unlimited. I can't remember...

    H4350 vs RL22

I haven'ttried RL22 in 6.5 CM but I have used it in 6.5x55 using 140 grain Nosler Partitions and Sierra GameKings. In my limited testing, it produced adequate hunting accuracy without any sign of high pressure of any kind (in my rifle), even exceeding book maximum by a few grains. But, H4350...

    Bullets for the 6.5 CM

My Ruger Hawkeye Predator does best with 140 grain Sierra Gamekings over 42.0 grains of H4350. But it also does very well with Hornady Factory 129 grain SST Ammo, Nosler 130 grain Accubonds over 43.5 grains of W760, and Nosler 140 grain Ballist Tips over 41.0 grains of H4350. Strangely, with...

    Changing Ballistic Tip to Accubond

I've been shooting quite a few 6.5 Ballistic tips and Accubonds the last couple of months in 6.5 CR and 6.5x55 and, while it just might be me, I see about a .5 to 1 inch difference in POI left/right with them.

    Thanks for all the replies.

6.5 CR sighting in height at 100 yards

This might seem a little silly, but I guess I need to start using the dials on these expensive scopes I buy. Honestly, I've always been a dead aim guy.

6.5 CR sighting in height at 100 yards

I'm curious at white height do most of you sight in the 6.5 Creedmoor. I normally set my rifles to be 3 inches high at 100 yards, for a test, I sighted in my 6.5 CR to be 5 inches high. Not a good idea, since it's shooting over seven inches high at 200 yards no. What works for you?

    6.5 creedmoor reloading

Ruger M77 Hawkeye Predator Hornady Brass CCI LR primers H4350 140 grain Sierra Gamekings One ragged hole at 100 yards. Using 140 Grain Nosler Partitions Groups size opens up to around 1.5 inch. Using 140 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tips 18 shots into a 1.5 inch hole. Using Hornady 129 Grain SST...

Help with the value of a gun

Weird, I'm a Ruger fan, and am always on the lookout to add to my collection, but I can't stand the paddle stocked rifles...

    6.5 bullet suggestion

Did a ladder test with the Sierra 140 gr. Gamekings in my 6.5CM, except for two shots, all 18 went into the same hole. A ragged, elongated, 1 inch hole. In my 6.5x55, using Nosler 120 Ballistic Tips, got around .6 inch with three shot groups. H4350 in the 6.5CM and the 6.5x55, W760 tended to...

    Primer cratering on all loads

Primers in question are CCI 400, they should have the same cup as CCI 450s, shouldn't they? Firing pin hole is not beveled, bold face is flat... I'll check the fit of the pin when I have time, it seemed OK when I had the bolt apart.

    Primer cratering on all loads

Having the same issue with a Mossberg MVP in 5.56mm. Primer edges are round but they crator. Worse yet, I can't even get close to Book Max with H335 or CFE223 and Sierra 65 grain Gamekings. The primer pierces and blows back into the bolt preventing any further firing. No other signs of high...

    Introduction - greetings

HI, thought I'd post an introduction as I just joined the forum. My main hunting experience is bow hunting mule deer and shotgunning birds, but I've just relocated back to my home state in the northern Rockies and have gotten back into rifle hunting. I have hunted and killed with rifles in...
