    6.5x284 shooters

Have pushed mine to 3000-3100 from a 26" bbl with 140 VLD. Ran a stiff load of Retumbo and I'm at 4000ft altitude. It shot moa @ 600yds+. Longest cold bore shot was 960yds. I find it more fun to run 2900-2950fps. Things wear out faster when you have the throttle to the floor all the time. Good...

    174yds with a 22LR

Thats great shooting. I was out developing some loads for my big rifles and happen to have my 22 with me. I was realy amazed how much more concentration and skill it took to shoot a good group at 100yd with the 22 than with 375H&H, 6.5-284 & 260AI. Besides it real hoot to watch the hole appear...

    260 Rem Vs. 6.5-06

I'm to understand that 6.5 bullet leaving the barrel @ 3200fps will kill better at 500yds than 6.5 bullet of like kind with a muzzle velosity 2800fps and hitting the target at the same impact speed at 300yds??? No wonder a lot of us out here in the west think most gun writers are full of bull...

    260 Rem Vs. 6.5-06

I've made two 6.5x284s, 260AI, 260 and 6.5x57AI (Roberts AI). Pushed them from mild to wild. For shootability and all around I would go with the 260. With 6.5 cal you don't have to push it 3000 plus for good killing and penetration. All the steam and recoil in the world makes for nothing if you...

    The 6.5's

Big Mike, I ran 6.5-06 A square Ackley Improved reamer in short and stopped at 57mm length, barreled it in a mauser action will a standard bolt face. You could do it in a Savage long action by ordering a chambered barrel from one the barrel companies (Shaw, Pacnor, McGowen ect.) and put it in...

    The 6.5's

My 6.5x257 AI is the same shoulder as the A square AI. 40 deg. I think. The cases I make are from 257 Rob, 7x57, 6.5x55 and reformed 270 & 30-06 brass. Once formed they are really stable and don't stretch. The 6.5x55 Lapua held back against the bolt face forms great, the neck is shorter but...

    22 Centerfire rounds?

The Triple duce. A .222 is mild and deadly accurate in the ranges your looking for, it might not the most in thing but it held match records for years. Plus you can watch the bullet inpact the target. Factory rifles and ammo are available. Good Luck. Weezer

Thanks for the info. The caliber I had in mind is a 6.5xRoberts AI or 6.5-06 A Sq. AI as I have reamers for them. Weezer

    1-9 twist 6.5 ??

I have had good luck with 130gn with 1-9, and 130, 140's with 1-8.5. Do you think I could get by with 140 Bergers @ 3000fps and 4000ft altitude with 1-9 ?? Thanks for any input. Weezer

    wildcat on the 6.5x55 round?

I have a 6.5xRoberts Ackley Imp.. It is an excellent round, a little more than the Swede if needed. Just a little less than 6.5x284 when cranked up. Just food for thought. Good luck, Weezer

    The 6.5's

I chambered a 6.5xRoberts AI or a 6.5x57AI and it can be ran from mild to to pretty strong. 120's @ 3300, have pushed 140 Bergers @ 3000. For bug holes 130s @ 27 to 2800. Down side forming cases. I neck size and bump the shoulders back on a 6.5x284 die. The cases seem to hold up pretty good if I...

    Rechamber 243 to 6mmAI

Is it possible to rechamber a 243 to 6mm AI and get a larger powder capacity or would it be better to go 6x284. Any thoughts ?? Thanks for the help. Weezer

    6.5 x .284 I need load info.

I use Retumbo with good long range results. You need to work your load out, takes a lot, I am pushing for velocity. good luck
