Coyote shotgun ammo and choke test

Here is my 2 cents on shot gunning coyotes. I have used about everything out there over the 45 years I've hunted these critters. This is what I use, it's not for everyone and expensive. My shot gun of choice is the Browning 10 ga auto loader with a 26" barrel.(the one with the soft camo coating)...

What kind of rest do you use?

To answer your question. Both sticks and Bi pod. Install the tallest bi pod Harris makes on your rifle and use it where you need it. If it is to short on certain circumstances then fold it up and hang your rifle over the sticks. To steady up your sticks flip down one of the bi pod legs (still...

    25-06 varmint load

I have a Rem 700 in 25.06 and have used it quite a bit on coyotes. I must warn you it is not easy on pelts but kills them dead! My rifle loves IMR 4350 powder and Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets both in 85 gr and 100 gr. I use the 85s for coyotes specific and the 100s when I'm on a combo hunt for...

A few suggestions, 1st, check on Idaho Game & Fish site and see if the quota hasnt been filled for Southern Mountains unit. Two wolves left last I checked. 2nd, because of the...

    Predator Calls for Bears

I hunt Idaho spring bear and have tried with no success on calling them. I think it must have to do with their diet. They have just come out of hibernation and are feeding on tender greens. The best way (if not baitng) to hunt spring bear is to find them on the fresh greens, usually just below...

Calling sequence question from new hunter

Sorry to hear about Dan Thompsons passing. I have been to his coyote contests in Rawlins WY. We had alot of fun and good times. I can say he liked to have his hunts fair and square. Dan was truly a pioneer in the calling world and will be greatly missed.
