With AH bullets do you really need to find a whole new powder or can one just go down to the next bullet weight in the book? Specifically looking at 7mm 140gr, should i just use data for the 120gr bullets in the book and work up? Thanks.
Not sure how they are on game as i never ended up using them. Loaded in my .280AI they were the absolute worst accuracy of any bullet i have loaded for that rifle. Burned almost the whole box trying to find a load the rifle would shoot. 1.75MOA was the best i got and that rifle puts everything...
I actually like the fatter can. The recoil impulse is a bit shorter and sharper then my U7. No data to back that up just a "feeling" seems like im back on target quicker with the Dominus.
Get the Dominus. If you need a direct thread just run the flash hider and its easy to move around to different rifles and to get out of the can if your using the break on something. Its not conveyed very much but I find the Dominus has a little bit different recoil impulse then the U7. Both are...
Well thats just great, now i need to order more bullets and work up new loads for two different rifles :) Thanks for the info Steve, this sounds like fun.
Interested in this. Im running a 20" 6.5 Creed with 123g AH at around 3050fps. What does the 85g at 3500fps do for you? Or is it just a different way to get to the same place? Just curious as im always looking for something to tinker with and try out. Thanks.
Since the OP said it was a used prefit I tend to think the chamber was cut with the older (pre saami) spec reamer. Those ran with a .275 neck and a shorter freebore then the current sammi spec reamer. Either way like others have said get it to a smith.
Of course with your set of requirements i would say 280AI........but you already have stuff in that realm so why not have some fun and go big.
I say 35 Whelen or 9.3x62. I know that 370 Sako never took off but that sure looks like fun as well.
I was told years ago that for every one i got she got the next one. I think she was trying to slow down my buying, all i know is its worked out quite nicely.
I went with the 7 for the same reasons and it is quitter then the 5. But that 5 on a dedicated 20" hunting rifle is pretty dam nice in the field running around in the brush and trees. Its really a "field" can. For anything at the range or any volume of shooting i use the 7.
