I plan to hunt mostly whitetail and mule deer, maybe elk sometime. This would be a backup gun for my 300 win mag for elk and moose if I go hunt them. I won't shoot more than 500 yards max on large game. I'd be lying if I told you what twist I have, I'll look into it though.

I believe that I would go with either the .300 Win Mag or .300 Weatherby Mag, most likely the Weatherby Mag for my large game rifle. I would also choose a .243 for white tail deer and smaller animals such as coyote size game. I'd go with a 7mm Mag for a cartridge in between them two that is...
