Right handed, but left eye dominant

I also am right handed and left eye dominant. I have always shot right handed, but I can switch to left at will. It is really handy in off-handed 10 bird derby shoots. I agree with the ones suggesting to let him figure it out. You can have the best intentions, but bottom line is you can't see...

    "best" modern factory cartridge

No one has ever told me that my 416 Rem mag wasn't enough rifle... it is death on ground squirrels! I have had no issues with ammo availability either!

    300 Win Mag???

Because a pre-64 model 70 in excellent condition is worth 2500 and up. If you modify it at all, it is worth 750. A person may want to keep their options open, not knowing what the future holds. Pre-64 model 70s aren't the same as any other rifle. If you want to modify something, buy a rifle...

    Sub $1000 rifle option

+1 on the Vanguard/Howa. The one thing they do well is. Make people that spent $3000 on a rifle wonder why they did after they shoot yours. Also. Steer clear of the MRC X2 they had barrel problems and are also bankrupt now... as of 2020. I hear the X3s took care of the problem, but again they...

    Rangefinding binoculars - Leica Geovid 10x42 R vs …

I have a set of geovids 10-42. I love them as well. I was amazed at the clarity and definition in very low light. At very low light, I could see at 200yds what I couldn't see at 10yds with the naked eye. Range finder works well for me as well.

7mmSTW vs 7mm remington ultra mag

I am waiting on my build. G.A. Precision is building me a 7 STW on a model 70 stainless classic action. 28" Bartlein 5r with 8.7 twist and a manners hunting stock.. I mentioned 8 twist, but they strongly recommended their 8.7. Mine will be an antelope through muledeer rig. Your numbers made my...

    This can't be good!

I have had this exact thing happen. Too little neck tension. The primer and early burn push the bullet out of the case before sufficient pressure to seal the chamber exists. The bullet lodges in the lands, and the pressure gets on the outside of the case. The case crushes, and a secondary...

    Pressure info 22 creedmoor

I am running 75g eld over rl26. I am not at home so I can't tell you my exact load. I am getting 3615 for speed out of a 24" Bartlein 5r barrel, mated to a montana 1999 action. I had pressure signs and backed it down 1/2 grain. My only pressure was a very faint bolt shadow on my brass. I can't...

280 Rem to 280 AI... is it worth it?

Paying attention. I've got the same question. I've been leaning toward rebarreling to a 6.5 Sherman... but could just rechamber.

    .280 ai twist

I am having a 7STW built at GAP as we speak. I went with the 8.7 Bartlein that they recommended. I told them it was an antelope/deer rifle and I was planning on 145 LRX or 150-160 hammers. I also went 28" 3b contour. I know it is different hp than your 280ai, but maybe my info will help. I...

Trying to find accuracy in a 45-70 405 Gr Bullet with 4198 powder.

I use a lyman lubrisizer with a 459 di. You can get lube from most supply outfits such as midway. You can also do the pan method. Melt the lube, stand the boolits upright in the liquid lube, let cool. Then clean them off. The lube should stay in the grooves where it belongs.

Black soot on cases head scratcher for me???

Yes. I think most weatherby chambers have like 3/8" of free bore. The bullet jumped out, lodged in the rifling, then the powder fully ignited, pressurized the chamber before the brass expanded and sealed. The brass crushed from the outside and then the bullet was forced down the bore. I bet I...
