Who is shooting the 7mm SAUM?

I threw together a few rounds today to break-in the barrel. An assortment of 150 gr. Nosler Solid Base BT's, 160 gr. Speer BT's, and 160 gr. Speer SP's over WXR. Shoot/clean/shoot/clean, etc for the first five rounds, then I fired four in a row, cleaned, then fired my last five shots. My 13 shot...

Who is shooting the 7mm SAUM?

I'm about to recieve the Remington M700 stainless 7 SAUM I bought. Just would like to know who all is shooting this round, and what you think of it. Any handloading advice would be much appreciated.

    Burris Ballistic Plex

Yes, I'm still here. Sounds great, I can't wait until it arrives. Should be fun the play with. P.S., it arrived last Tuesday, but I won't get a chance to look at it until Sunday because I'm out of town. [ 07-18-2003: Message edited by: todbartell ]

    7mm MAG ?

    I too have tried RL25 with the 160 gr. in my 7mm Rem Mag. 160 gr. Speer BT 70.0 grs. RL25 R-P case CCI 250 ~ 2908 fps avg. w/ 26" barrel

    Burris Ballistic Plex

Jay Gorski , Yes, I will be trying it at lots of different ranges. I don't plan on shooting deer out to 600 yards, just milk jugs etc. I've printed off the technical stuff from Burris.com, and have been running diff. loads through a ballistics program, out to 500 & 600 yards.

    Burris Ballistic Plex

I will be putting it on a 7mm SAUM. I haven't looked through one, just ordered it from Natchez. The Ballistic Plex should be very close to a 140 gr. @ 3150 fps, out to 600 yards, or a 175 gr. @ 2800 fps out to 500 yards, depending on the zero. This will be my first Burris scope.

    Burris Ballistic Plex

Has anybody tried one of these? It looks pretty cool. I ordered a FullField II 3-9X40mm. Seems I should be able to make accurate hits out to 500 or 600 yards, with the use of a rangefinder. [ 06-30-2003: Message edited by: todbartell ]

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

BountyHunter, I realize my mtn. rifle isn't an ideal LR gun. But I will still have fun playing with it at longer distances, which for me, is 300+ yards. It has a 1-9" twist, which may be iffy with the VLD 140 gr. class bullets. 338-378, That is pretty cool that you guys are shooting the H&R...

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

Wow, you guys really get heated up quick! Man, I just came here because I was trying to get these MatchKings I had to shoot, so I came to the source of MK knowledge. When I said it takes alot of the human element, what I meant is from the video I watched, it looked to me like a novice...

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

338-378 , I'm not anti-long range hunting. It just seemed like it pretty easy with the tripod bench set-up. And the custom guns and scopes, precision handloads, etc. It really takes alot of the human element out of it. If I was shooting a blue printed action, Hart barrel, McMillian stocked...

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

LOL Ahh, the thing about the young girl who smoked a fawn at 750 yards, when she couldn't remove the safety? Yes, like I said, no talent. I loaded up the last of my MatchKings today, and tried them tonight with my rifle wearing the diff. stock. I went with H4895 and Varget. Varget...

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

Actually, that RL19 load was better than I'm doing now. That was 5 shots with RL19 that are going as tight as my 3 shot groups now. I've shot the 120 gr. MK with Varget, but didn't record the group size, only the speed. So I will try it. I've been shooting lately with the laminate stock...

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

I have used this RL15 powder in my 260 Rem for 100 gr. bullets. With the 100 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet, I could get pretty good groups, 1" or less. This is the first time I've tried it with a 120 gr. bullet. Yes, my barrel is quite slender. I let it get almost cool, just slightly warm...

    MatchKings ~ Accurate?

Hello all, this is my first post. I'll start out by saying I'm not a real long range shooter, nor do I claim I am. Anyways, to my question. I shoot a Remington 700 stainless mtn. rifle in 260 Rem. My scope is a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15X40mm. It is not scary accurate, but I'd say good for a...
