Looking for any info on this rifle. Picked this up at an auction for the scope mainly. All I know is that it’s a .300 ultra built on a 700 receiver, no barrel manufacturer markings I can see. I’ve also never seen this type of chassis before with a 1911 style grip, have any of you?
Oh I get it. I just don’t do the 1” pipe barrels.
Plus I already have .243, 6.5 Creedmoor, .308, .300 Ham’r, and probably a few others I’m thinking of that come close to that niche. Let’s not forget needing brass, I try to stick with somewhat mass produced cases. No time for forming at this...
Yeah it’s a 6 dasher likely, I have no use for a bench rest gun. No dies or cases either. I don’t shoot out to 1,000 and beyond with anything heavier than a Remington varmint profile so this baseball bat isn’t really useful to me lol.
Yeah I’ll probably never jump on the CF wagon. I’ll take durability and consistency any day for a working rifle. The weight savings on any reasonable use contour just aren’t there either, in fact I used a light profile steel barrel for my 6.5 Creedmoor stalking gun.
Prob what I’ll end up doing. It sure it’s clear from the pics but the single shot plate is either job welded in or bedding material, that will be easy to take out and I have an extra magazine metal piece. I just can’t use the stock, I mean I could but id likely get a way lighter barrel and that...
I’d probably stick around the 50-70gr range leaning toward the light side. Going any heavier you might as well just use a .243 or 6mm Creedmoor.
Lasering the 35gr bullets would be fun but they aren’t much good for anything but exploding PD and groundhogs.
I’ve spent at least 2 hours going over...
I’ve come across this heavy barrel 700 that I was going to tear apart for a .22 Creedmoor build. It’s labeled 6 dash .269 NK on the barrel, the action has an insert for single shot, the stock has no cutout for a magazine well, plus it is bedded.
Should I just tear it all down, or if it’s worth...
