    Ian McMurchy Has Passed Away!

I didn't realize how long it had been since I had lurked on this site until I got your email tonight Len. You and Ian were the two steady voices that I always looked up to, so much on this board. Ian and I still swapped emails for some time after I quit posting a couple of years ago...

Case and Loaded Round Runout question

One of the first things I found several years ago, when I first became aware of run out. Was to take a Slow, smooth and steady stroke on the ram when sizing. I was amazed at how much I could reduce the run out in my cases, just by taking my time and working slower on the press.

    berger VLD

I've shot a number of coyotes at LR with the 190 VLD's., and think it is an excellent LR coyote bullet! ( As long as you don't want to keep the fur )

    Want opinion on new rifle.

It will work great for what you describe. Just use 50-55 grain bullets for the coyotes and the lighter varmint bullets for the groundhogs and Pdogs

    300 RUM+180g btip+Retumbo

Let me save you a lot of trouble. Don't shoot coyotes with FMJ bullets. The pencil in and pencil out and the coyote runs away. If you insist on trying, either shoot the coyote in the head, or take a trail hound with you. FMJ don't leave a blood trail to follow.

    WC872 powder question

I use WC872 as the powder for most of my varmint hunting loads. Great powder and it seems to be easy on barrels. Like Wambo said, it will give you an occasional flier, so it's probably not the best thing to take to a match ( Unless you are shooting against me ) If you are shooting a 300 RUM...

US 869 Hodgdon powder, anyone tried or seen it yet?

I went to a Sportsman's Warehouse on Saturday for the first time. I'll definitely be back. Their powder was priced the same as Midway's for the 1# bottles. But even better was the 8# jugs were $12 cheaper. Where they really shine, is that there is no shipping or hazmat fees. I've ordered...

Primers for 85+grs of powder ???

Mike, I used the 210M in some light loads with Retumbo to a match once a couple of years ago. What worked fine and gave me a great ES and good accuracy here at home. Didn't work at all up in Tucson. About a dozen of my rounds went "Poof" and the bullet had to be tapped out with a cleaning...

    What To Put in Rests?

I filled mine with bulk rice from the grocery store. It was about half the cost of sand, and I didn't notice any difference from when the bags used to hold sand.

    7mm 180gr Berger VLD

I like both Retumbo and H1000 in my 7 mag. The 180 Bergers are a great bullet, Their website suggests seating all VLD's against the lands. I've found that to be good advice!
