1965 FN Supreme 264 Win Mag Rifle

My vintage LR rifle at the range today. I was adjusting the scope after replacing the scope mounts. FN Supreme action, west coast Myrtlewood stock, 4X scope. No plastic, nothing black, no bipod, no camo. Shoots straight and accurate. This is the kind of rifle I drooled over as a kid. The scope...

    Durability of Weatherby Wood Stocks

The wood stocks do very well in my experience with "normal" handling. My oldest Wby is a Mk V built in 1965 (7mm Wby) and is still going strong after many hours at the range and on my back with a sling. The stock wasn't designed just for looks but to also reduce felt recoil. I do keep it in a...

    Weatherby Mark V work needed,

your right, Wby was not cheap. but it was done right and has a no question warranty. I have had not success finding a gunsmith that works on Mk. V's. The problem with my rifle probably started with someone with 10 thumbs, a hammer and one screwdriver.

    Weatherby Mark V work needed,

How about the factory? They did a great job on my Mk V a couple of years ago. Looks and shoots like a new one.

Need some help on choosing light weight stock please

I have a HS Precision Sporter stock that weighs about 2.5 lbs. I like the fit and finish, does fine for me as a hunting rifle.

Montana Rifle Company - Opinions please

I have a MRC stainless 1999 in a .308 custom hunting rifle. Very solid, smooth action. Have had no issues with it. Shoots very tight groups, no feed or extraction problems, trigger is smooth. I am buying another one shortly to build a new rifle with no reservations.

    Best Factory Action

I see a lot of 700's, for those that like them, enjoy. My results with 700's have been OK. not great. I started looking around and found a couple of actions that I like better. Montana Rifle Co. 1999 action, out of the box no tweaking required. They don't cut corners on workmanship...

    Illuminated vs non illuminated reticles

I have had an illuminated recticle on my 44 mag T/C Contender scope for 15 + years. Useful in marginal light hunting hogs and deer and as my eyes approach 60 years old. I use the minimum illumination required to make the cross hairs easy to see. Have been looking at scopes for a new rifle...

    VX-III 3.5x10 40mm vs 4.5x14 40mm

I use a 3 - 9 on my .264 and never run out of scope at least here in TX. I tend to favor scopes that weigh less if I am going to be carrying the rifle. Your mileage my vary if you live west of the pan handle.

    Another Texan

Howdy, another Texan from south central Texas checking in. Have been a pistol and rifle competitive shooter and hunter since I was a boy. Currently shooting a .264 Win Mag 1960's vintage FN Supreme custom rifle. Still has the original Bushnell Banner 4X scope on it. Steel tube, very bright...
