Perhaps. The other thing to consider is bears. If you are hunting moose in grizzly country, a bullet that can break bones and deeply penetrate is a smart choice. Again, Bergers don't fill that niche.
I live in Canada and I have shot several moose. I would recommend 180 grain Barnes TTSX. You want a bullet that can break bones at close range if necessary. Also, moose meat is phenomenal, and you won't want to waste any with a grenading bullet, so I would avoid frangible bullets like the Berger.
I think the 127 LRX is an excellent choice for the creedmoor. I have loads developed for the 120 TTSX and 127 LRX. I'll be using the 127 LRX with confidence
Those LR Accubonds would be on my short list too, but here in BC, Canada, they cannot be found. Fortunately, Barnes seems to keep us Canadians well supplied with bullets.
You have a nice rig! I have a Cooper M54 with a 24" barrel (Wilson owns Cooper). It's topped with a Swarovski z5 3.5-18 x 44 BT. I am still in the load development stage with Barnes 120 TTSX and 127 LRX. My 5 shot groups are about 0.75" and 3 shot about 0.4-0.5" at 100 yards. Not bad for a...
This thread is interesting to me. I acquired a 6.5 Creedmoor within the last year, and have been developing loads for it. I'm probably going to settle on the Barnes 120 TTSX or 127 LRX. All my elk so far have been killed with my 308 with either 150 TSX or 168TTSX. I love the Barnes bullets...
Yes, I was lucky an found 4 boxes that someone had ordered, but decided they didn't want. I think they will be great hunting bullets for sane hunting distances.
Yes, I realize I could push it faster, but don't shoot past 500 yards, so it's not necessary. My barrel should last longer at 2715 than 2950, too lol.
I seat my bullets about 65/1000 off the lands, and am using 41.3 grains o fIMR 4350.
I just bought some Superperformance, so will try that next.
