Has anyone built a 6.8 western or purchased a factory rifle in one of these & shot them with the factory ammo offerings if so how did they shoot? I have a 270 WSM in a Winchester featherweight that I purchased when the WSM line first came out & I was never able to find a factory offering that...

that's one thing that boggles my mind is all the hating on the new Hornady cartridges like the creedmoor doesn't do anything the 260 can, the 6.5 PRC doesn't do anything the 6.5-284 can & the 300 PRC doesn't do anything the 30 Nosler can. When you are talking about handloads and custom chambers...
Off the shelf ammo that shoots good. My Howa 1500 in a 6.5 PRC shoots really well for a $500 rifle with off the shelf ammo. I know of a few people that have custom or higher end factory 6.5 PRC rifles that shoot the factory Hornady ammo very good aswell. If you are hand loading you will gain...
I'm not aware of anyone making anything for them I just picked my long ranger in the 6.5 CM the other day. At first I was very unimpressed with the accuracy so I went back and did the break in procedure for a second time and got it to shoot pretty good for a lever action that is. I also had to...
I do research ballistics. I agree for the hand loader the 6.8 Western offers little to no advantages over the WSM other than in saami spec it was designed for long range bullets the WSM was not. Not everyone has enough spare time to do load development and reload or enough $ to pay someone to...
I know plenty about the 270 WSM I own one but you aren't going to find an off the shelf 270 WSM with a barrel with fast enough twist to stabilize a 165 grain or heavier long range bullet & you surely won't find any ammo on the shelf loaded with a 165 grain or heavier long range bullet.
I'm not sure where people are coming from on saying the 6.8 Western offers nothing. I do not know of any other 27 caliber cartridge that you could potentially buy an off the shelf short action rifle with off the shelf ammo and shoot a 165 ABLR at 2970 fps. If so please tell me cause I'd be...
I've taken many cow elk out to 800 yds with my $500 off the shelf 6.5 creedmoor rifle & off the shelf hornady ammo with 0 wound loss but apparently I have no business doing that
the velocity does sound a little slow what chrony are you using? you may want to try the Hornady Match 140 ELDM I've had better luck accuracy wise out of my wife's weatherby vanguard 2 with those at a 100 yards it shoots 3/4" or less
