What's your caliber of choice, for coyotes?

.223, cheap to shoot and does eveything I need out to 6, 700 yards. But I have also used my 12Ga, 44mag, 444marlin, bow with arrow, and 22lr. I saw whatever is at hand at the time.

Do you reload your own coyote ammo or shoot factory? Whats your favorite load?

.223, 50grn TNT, 24grns, H322, cci primers, 1-12 twist single shot H&R Ulrta Varmiter. This has been my load for 20 years and has put a few coyotes and other vermin on the ground. Shoots .75 MOA.

    Twist Rates. Which one?!

The 1-9 twist would be better for heavier bullets 69grns and up. I would look for a 22-250 with a 1-9 twist 223 is to slow for me with heavy bullets.

    Info for a new barrel

Thanks Camshaft for your input. I either have to buy a new gun or rebarrel mine because the best I can get is 1" groups.

    Shot placement, bear facing hunter?

I shot my bear facing me at 366 yards with a 300wby 165grn sst. The bullet entered the neck area stopped right on the right shoulder. He went straight down, did not take a step. I would take the shot again. Would have liked a broadside shot but he did not want to give me that one.

Barnes's Tests Prove Why Berger Hunting VLDs Are So Successful By Eric Stecker

First I would like to say Hi. I am not an expert and am not saying one bullet is better then the other, yet. I have only made one kill on a black bear that I consider long range, it was 366yards with a hornady sst 165grn from my 300Wby. I do know that I like a bullet that expands and dumps...
