    270 WSM 145 ELD-X Loads

I have developed a new load for my 270 WSM. 150 Nosler long range Accubond in Norma brass Win mag primers and H1000 powder. I am getting half inch groups and velocity just short of 3000 ft/sec. My deer load.

    I really want another revolver

I have greatly enjoyed the discussion about revolvers. I too am a big fan of the wheel guns and I own more that a dozen. I like shooting them all from the Ruger Single Six to my Ruger Redhawk in 454 Casull . I better take that back the 454 is not all that fun to shoot. My latest is a very...

145 ELDX or 140 Sierra Gamechanger in 270 Win

I just purchased 2 boxes of 50 140 Nosler Accubonds ,277 from Graf out of Mo. I got them today and I just finished a load for my Win Model 70 in 270WSM using Staball HD powder. I am eager to find out how they shoot. I have used them over the years with different powders.

Your lucky to find 6.5 PRC ammo for that price. My 6.8 ammo cost me almost $3.00 / round.

    6.8 western data

Getting brass is a major problem not only for the 6.8 Western but also for 270WSM and 7mm SAUM. I bought 6 boxes of factory ammo to get brass for my 6.8. Since i have owned a 270 WSM for 20 years i have enough 270 WSM brass. When i bought the 7mm SAUM also about 20 years ago i knew brass would...

    6.8 western data

From looking at the Hodgdon manual and some experience it is hard to beat Staball HD for velocity. Looks like the slower powders produce more speed. Accurate Arms Magnum, Magpro and Retumbo all are very fast. i have tried H4831, H1000, Retumbo and Staball HD. Retumbo gave more velocity. Both...

    6.8 western data

Three is three very good sources of information for 6.8 Western loads-Hodgdon's web site, Hodgdon annual manuals 2022&2023. I have had good luck with 170 Bergers using H1000 and Staball HD.Both powders shot this bullet 1/2 to 3/4 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yds.

    New StaBALL

I just got the 2023 Hodgdon yearly load manual and to my surprise Staball HD is listed as one step slower than Retumbo on the burn rate chart. I purchased two pounds and have not had a chance to load it. This manual also has an article on loads with this powder. 25-06, 270 WSM, 6.8 Western and...

Factory Rifles, sometimes you get lucky

Update on my Browning X bolt in 6.8 Western. I have gotten the time to shoot it with both hand loads an yesterday I shot the Browning factory 175 Tipped Sierra Game king. To say the least i am quite pleased with the results. Here is a couple of targets. The one on the left is my load with 170...

    270 WSM 145 ELD-X Loads

I have tried the Hornady 145 ELD-X in my Winchester Model 70 in 270WSM with IMR-7977 with ok results. MY velocity and ES was very good but I did not get the accuracy that I was looking for. I loaded the rounds in Norma brass and just a work of advise Norma brass has less volume than other makes...

Factory Rifles, sometimes you get lucky

As stated i thanked 6x6 for his advice . I sent my Browning x-bolt back. Yesterday I got a call from my dealer-Browning sent me a new rifle no questions asked. I now need to shoot the new one and see how well it does.

Factory Rifles, sometimes you get lucky

As sated above i got lucky with the Rem 700 in 7mmSAUM but i got unlucky with my latest rifle. I have been fascinated with the 6.8 Western since i am a fan of the 270 Win and the 270 WSM. I have never owned a Browning rifle so I saw an X-bolt in 6.8 Western so i bought it. It has been a great...
