I was using 82grs of H1000 and getting 2960. Any faster than that and I could not get a good group. I do think the wby freebore had alot to do with it. I could not get 210 bergers to shoot well at all. I actually have a 28 inch barrel on order and going to put it on the Howa action.

That's what I was thinking. 210 bergers are long and I can't seat them much farther out without them not even being in the case. I don't have a issue shooting single-shot, since I use this gun for caribou, and it's not like you need that you have to shoot fast. They are not the smartest animal...

I will have to do that for sure. Are you you using H 1000? I have not tried retumbo but what the berger manual says, i should be able to get a little better fps with around the same grains.

Dialing in a scope seems to be a waste of time to me. The Zeiss Rapid Z works great for me. Find your yardage, hold on that line, shoot done. If i'm going to shoot something at 800 to 1000 yards I want to do it as fast as possible. gun)Once again, just a opinion.

Moose seem to be kind of big babys after they are shot. Even if you don't have the best shot placement they still don't go far and either lay down or stand there with there hanging their head. My dad has shot many moose with a 308. I use a 300 mag myself. I have the theory bigger is better, but all depends on distance and where you place your shot.:D
