    Custom gunsmith recommendation

My brother has 2 at Long Rifles Inc now. His work is gone, his turnaround time is probably untouchable

    Which 30 cal?

Any of them are decoration for wall hanging with no ammo. I vote 300 Win Mag. You can find brass for it right now.

    No more Wood?

I made a 3 piece laminate from Walnut and fiddleback maple. Sent it to a company that had a CNC. They put an aluminum bedding block in it and sent it back. I cut out cheekpiece, made my own adjustable mechanism and bedded stained and sealed the wood with 12 to 15 coats 9f waterlox.

Sub 2k long range hunting scope?

That would not be a bad choice

Sub 2k long range hunting scope?

Had and used both in long range comps. The Bushnell Elite Pro you can depend on, tracking and glass quality. It's made at LOW in Japan. The Burris tracts great but the glass just is not there. Made in the Philippines.

.270 whitetail bullet shopping again, for the last time.

One thing you said was 450 yards. That nails it down with also not wanting soft lead tips. Hornady 150 SST. The BC is around. 525. I actually shot it to 800 testing the bc and it was very close. It's not an expensive bullet and it's not too light for caliber. There is a lot a bullets that will...

    280 AI

For me, Hunting 155 Edge TLR loaded about 60 ofd rifling over RL23. Doesn't matter what temperature, muzzle velocity is just not going to change enough to give you a pressure problem. Long range shooting, Hornady 162 ELDMs have been doing well for me and the BC is great. And they cost quite a...

308 vs 7mm Deer Hunting Out to 650 yards

I'll take one of his before I pick one of my 308s. If walking or carrying my pig wasn't required I'd take my 7WSM one Masterpiece Arms chassis. I love 7mm. That one is just to heavy for normal hunting but does it shoot.

308 vs 7mm Deer Hunting Out to 650 yards

If you don't want the recoil or capacity of the 7mm Mag you could also look at the 280 AI. My brother has 2 of them. We load a Federal Edge TLR 155 gr at around 3000 fps. That bullet has been tested to expand all the way down to 1400. It's made like Nosler ballistic tip in the front with the...

7 mm mag bullet for Elk

I loaded the Federal Edge TLR 155 for my brothers 280 AI. Got great accuracy at 60 thousandths of the rifling. He took a great 6x6 last year with it. Quartering shot entered right shoulder and went all the way to opposite hindquarter just under the hide. Perfect mushroom, high bc for the weight...

The Military learned its lesson with the a191 300 Mag 190 sniper round but then forgot it with the new 220 LR sniper load. One of my friends just had got in country and was getting his 300 yd zero with they came under contact. It was about 117. After a few minutes he was having to beat his bolt...

I don't know if H4831SC is less temperature sensitive than H4831. It is a world of difference than IMR4831. The SC really meters better though.

    What size gongs for 400-600?

That is a good idea. Gonna have to put that on my to do list. Thanks for the idea of putting a 6 inch swinger on a bigger target. I've seen hard mount targets like that but a moving center on a hang yourself target...nice

I just quit using any 130 because of bullet blow ups and no exits. The 150 SST is a really good mix of weight and expansion. Most are down but the deer that run look they starred in Nightmare on Elm st
