oh... just tested A-max on roedeer. 52 grs. 22-250. Range 120 meter. It walked about 20-30 meter before it fell. Totally exploded inside. The remainings of the bullet was stuck on the skins other side.
It did hit bone, exploded just inside the skin, 19,4 grs remainings traveled trough the...
Yes, the group was after i had fired maybe 20 rounds with different bullets. Maybe some copper... did´nt seem much when I cleaned the barrel that evening.
1894: It´s not about roe or my shooting. My maxrange on roe is 200 meter. I´m 100% convinced of a successfull hit on that range. On 300 meter I´m only 95% convinced of a successfull hit. If I choose to shoot at that range, it must be a once in a lifetime buck. BTW target practice at 300 meter...
Tried the BX at 300 meter. Very accurate approx 1,5 moa @300 m. BUT I´ve also experienced a 3 shot round that didn´t even hold 1 moa @100meter. Same box...
How do you guys classfy your rifles? I mean, if for an instance you got a rifle (dont mind the cal) that shoots 1 moa a 100yards, whats the range you consider as max for that rifle? Let´s say it is small deer/coyote targets.
Just wondering where the limit for accuracy and range is. Dont mind...
1894: New testresults of .224 bullets
The BX 50grs looses it´s wings but totally penetrates the media 60 cm newspaper, right trough a board of wood on the backside. Amazing penetration. The expansions seems rapid since it looses it´s "wings".
Also tried the Trophy Bonded i 55 grs. It totally...
This is the first season my dog is going to accompany me with stalking. I´ve only used her hunting, never stalking quitely unless it is on a wounded animal.
The season starts 10. aug. I´ll be starting the 16. aug, since I´ve been hunting a lot in the neighbour country, Sweden.
Thats the dog of an huntingbuddy of mine. Very nice dog. It´s "Drever", not harehound. I also has a dog, but it´s a "Dachs". She is also approved tracking-dog, so I do believe this will be fine. Here is my dog..

I´ve just tested the Barnes X 50 grs for accuracy, and it hits about the same spot as the A-Max. So lynn... as for now, Barnes X is my first choice for roedeer.
Take a look at my photoalbum, and you´ll se the size. Here is an link to photos from one of the hunt´s last year:

I dont think the A-Max qualifies as a good hunting bullet in 22-250 either. I would like a bullet that penetrates trough the body of an Roedeer. Compared with the 22 LR shot at point blank, I´m quite convinced that the A-Max will penetrate a roedeer, no matter what the newspaper penetration...
The 60 gr partition does not go well in my rifle. BTW I´ve been testing the A-max at 300 meters this evening. The bullet perfomance is greater the furter away the target is, It penetrates 13 cm at 100 - 15 cm at 200 and 18-19 cm. at 300.
