What headstamps are in there?

Clean the threads. Sometimes there’s those tiny little rounds beads Savage use as lock tight and will get the nut stuck. If the thread diameter measures 1.05 then it’s more than likely a small (standard) shank barrel. Large shanks measure 1.12 and will have a step down after the threads.
