They are a clone. A bit like a stiller / 700 cross. They have 8-40 screws though. 700's have 10-40 I believe. Also the front and back of the receiver are the same unlike the 700's that have different rear bases than the front ones. Hope this helps
You may be coming up empty because I don't think they make the ELDX for a 7mm in a 150 grain. 162 grain or a 175 I believe are your 2 options. Hope this helps.
I honestly haven't done enough in depth testing comparing the 2. I don't think the 6 grns difference in bullets weight is going to be anything noticeable for more energy. Especially if you get more speed out the the ELDX's. Hard to say what your rifle is gonna like better when you get out to...
I think they are both as accurate. Retumbo was getting me a bit more speed and lower ES. But haven't got enough testing in yet. The gun that I'm working on now is getting bedded right now and when I get it back I'll be doing more.
If your trying the 162 ELDX or the 168 VLD I would try retumbo around the 73 grn mark (work up obviously). And H1000 around the 70 grn mark. 3 guns have shot those loads very well for me.
I'd give them a try.... I'm at 90 thou jump right now. I've shot 2 groups under 1/2 MOA but not consistent enough for me. The other groups have sprayed 1.5-2" with the same load. Some in the 3/4" range. Frustrating sometimes
Mine is a custom build rem 700 7mm rem mag with a #5 contoured walther barrel. 24.5" rifled and about 1.5" of brake. B&C M40 stock bedded. The gun was built off a 300 ultra action so I could have lots of room in the mag box.
Has anyone loaded the 162 eldx in a 7 rem mag and had good success ? I'm trying to sort through my issues. I've had a couple real good groups with them but I can't duplicate the group. Still trying to figure out if this 9 twist barrel doesn't like them or if it's a gun issue.
