Great review. I have one in 7mm PRC on the way. After reading your review, I'll probably need to upgrade the factory stock. It doesn't have the accustock, so I'm sure if will be even more flimsy than your Ultralite in 6.5 creedmoor. I guess Savage's decision to omit the accustock on this model...
I don't understand why a 6.5 PRC would be effective 600 yards further than a 6.5 Creedmoor?
My thoughts are that a 6.5 PRC would only be effective about 200+- yards more than a 6.5 Creedmoor. All subject to the pill used, barrel length and muzzle velocity.
I bought a NIB Howa M1500 Carbon Elevate in 6.5 Creedmoor (part number HCE65C) from a seller on Gunbroker.com. It has a carbon wrapped stainless steel #7 contour barrel and a Stocky's carbon fiber stock. When it arrived the carbon stock had several defects and I returned it to Howa (Legacy...
I don't know how Howa will respond, but give them a try. They came through for me with problems with a carbon fiber stock.
From the Howa owner's manual: "AMMUNITION 1. Use only high quality, original factory manufactured ammunition."

Like others I like the Leupold. My last 2 scopes were VX5 3-15x44 and VX6 2-12x44. Both are under 20 ounces and have good glass to my eyes. Leupold now has promotions $200 and $400 off on all of their VX5 and VX6 scopes from select dealers.

A friend of mine has a 50+ year old Browning BAR 30-06 that shoots consistent 1/2" groups at 100 yards with factory Remington core locks. Very manageable recoil to boot. I was amazed how well it shoots for a semi-auto.
I have a Badlands fanny pack that I love. When I recently bought a binocular pack I looked at the Badlands and the new Marsupial enclosed pack and I choose the Marsupial pack, even though it is more expensive. I'm very happy with it.
Old post, but does anyone know any place for long range shooting in South East Virginia? I'm in Smithfield VA 23430. I would like a longer range than what I use now, Lafayette Gun Club in Yorktown, Va. It's a great club, but it's longest range is just 100 yards. A 600 yard range would be great.
I have a Sako model 85 in 7mm-08 that wouldn't shoot well at all with any of 5 factory ammo that I tried until I tried the Hornady factory loaded Hornady Precision Hunter 7mm-08 Remington 150gr ELD-X. It shoots better than 1/2" @ 100 yards and is deadly on whitetail.
