    Rifle Display Box

Hey y'all, thanks for the compliments. Got some more work done today, doesn't look like much, but a day's worth of sanding is a lot in my book lol. I know I'll be feeling it tomorrow. I applied it's first coat of boiled linseed oil, and it's really starting to look like something. The wood is...

    Rifle Display Box

I was contacted by a member of the forum here to make him a custom display shadow box for his "retired" rifle and shot gun. Well I FINALLY got started on the displays, and I figure I'll post some pictures on here so he can see the progress as it's made. Heres the basic concept of what I'm...

azgutpile, Where have you been all my life? lol. Thank you. I've been doing a lot of thinking, and still haven't sent the rifle back to Kimber. I asked around and found some well recommended gunsmiths in my area (not guys that work at a gun store lol). I think I'll take your list and one list...

lloydsmale, Yes I believe it is pillar bedded and glass bedded. Am I missing a nuance to your question? I don't mean that as a smart *** remark, but I'm new to this so it's quite possible. Jason

Kimba, thank you for the in depth explanation of he to bed a rifle. I'm sure that'll come in handy. I'd really like to learn. My buddy just got a 300WSM that he's planning on skim bedding, so I'm going to ask him if I can take part in that. You make it sound very easy... And I do a lot of wood...

So I sent Kimber the pictures of the dollar bill test. They say that ain't right, so they're going to give me a packing labor and are going to fix the problem. Well, at least they're going to free float the barrel. Hopefully that fixes the problem.

Woodbutchertoo, are your barrels free floating? Kimba, that was my initial suspicion too... But being ignorant I wanted some other input. I still think you're correct. Now is it worth $200+ for a professional to do it, or should I attempt to do it myself? Or should I send it to Kimber as tell...

Kimba, your reply seems to directly contradict what Sable said. Unless I've missread something. Can you please clarify? I was thinking that because I have a thin barrel the contact point might exist to support the barrel under recoil and control some of the "whip." Your reply confirms that, at...
