WOW! A Zombie thread has come back to life! 😂 I ended up with a .257 Weatherby Mark V Accumark in .257 Wby Mag. I couldn't be happier. It's waaay more accurate than I am.
My friend's daughter shoots a 7mm-08 and it seems to be a very efficient cartridge.
I have the same one. I think I got it at Cabela's using CC points. It works GREAT for Antelope since there wasn't a tree tall enough to hang one from for 10 miles. LOL. Worked good in Nebraska too. We won't hunt out West without it.
I bought both and kept the Metcalf. I know me…and the Beartooth is just too big for me. I would always keep packing more gear in it than I need because it could accommodate it. Lol. Both great packs though.
I have a Mystery Ranch Metcalf that I bought during a stupidly cheap sale during the spring of last year. It’s very adjustable, very comfy, and can pack a lot of meat if necessary. It could use more pockets would be my only complaint. Crazy high quality though.
I understand. I already have a Ruger M77 in .300 Winnie and it would beat me up pretty good, before I put a brake on it. My Weatherby .257 Mag weighs in at over 10-1/2 pounds fully dressed. It's heavy, but I don't mind it because it's a tack driver.
Thank you!
Thank you for the detailed response. I typically wouldn't shoot that far either. But it doesn't hurt to be prepared. I did shoot at BangSteel this fall out to 1,200 yards. It was quiet an eye-opening and learning experience. I was shooting a RPR in 6.5 CM and it was very crazy accurate out...
Nice.
I wouldn't mind picking up my first X-Bolt i .300 Win Mag for out Elk Hunting out West. What model(s) would you consider for shooting out to 500-700 yards? TIA.
I have a Weatherby Mark V Accumark w/ the Accubrake in .257 Weatherby Magnum. It is stupid accurate, waaay more than I am. It's on the long and heavy side, but I think that just helps with the accuracy. It is my "go to" rifle for out west deer and antelope. It resides in the #1 spot in my...
