I have an ER Shaw 24" sporter contour in 260 Rem. It is finished with black Cerama-Coat. There is a few tiny specs where the Cerama-Coat came off. Round count is under 100. $125 shipped.
Did you find what you were looking for yet? Gun Shack in San Antonio has a good selection of pre-fit McGowen Savage barrels that are all ready to ship.
Sounds like this was his first install of a smooth barrel nut. Maybe he just didn't get it quite tight enough.
My first barrel install I did on my Savage came loose and this was a regular notched nut. All of the reading I did said it wasn't necessary to put it back on as tight as factory...
Is there any particular reason you would want to use H1000? H4350 seems to be the most common for a 260 Rem. I have used both H3450 and IMR3450 with great success.
ER Shaw Savage barrels are available at a good discount from Gun Shack. Group buys are done on a regular basis to give you the opportunity to get a discount on a great selection of chamberings.
