I had a pac-nor polygonal super match 9 twist 7mm that would not shoot any better than 1 1/2 moa. I tried fast powders, slow powders, light bullets, heavy bullets, it just did not make a difference. It was the worst barrel i ever had.
I have 3 300 weatherbys 2 with freebore and 1 without. I had pac-nor put on a 26 inch 12 twist barrel with no freebore throated to a dummy round. After talking to Ed Shilen and then Chris at pac-nor i went without freebore as they both told me it can cut accurate barrel life in half and that i...
Yes you can bed this stock. I have glass bedded 10-12 rem synthetic stocks and never have had a problem with the bedding sticking even with 300 weatherby and ultra mags with no muzzle brakes. The factory synthetic stocks are poor quality but bedded properly they will shoot very well. You will...
I am using 42.5 grs. rl-22,winchester brass, rem 9 1/2 primer with the 75 gr. a-max. Velocity is 3420 fps with 30 inch hart barrel. Mine is a 8 twist and i think the 9 twist will work for that bullet. Fireforming with 39 grs. rl-22.
If you check those bullets for diameter with a micrometer you will probably find they are not all the same. Other caliber SMK's do not have this problem, i have only seen it 338 smk's.
Pete and Fifty you guys are right about my bullet choice. My gun was build to be a long range carry rifle but a short shot presented itself. I never used match bullets for big game before this. I used them because of what others have told me about heavier mk's staying together so well. I guess...
After hearing how good sierra match kings perform on game i tried the 240 gr. mk in my 300 ultra mag imp. on a montana hunt for mule deer and elk. My gun has a 3 groove 10 twist pac-nor barrel. I shoot a mule deer at 80 yards and the bullet totally blew up when it hit the rib cage. The inside of...
I got a 700 ss 5r recently and i am very happy with it. It is shooting in the .4s consistently with the 168 sierra mk. I adjusted the stock trigger to 3 lbs. pull, any less than that the trigger just is not consistent. I am sure with a jewell trigger it will shoot close to 1/4 moa at 100 yards...
