Hey bud, i have trouble with a 338 edge that has a tight neck. My suggestion, take the gun back, get your money back. DO NOT FIRE A 338 THOUGH THAT GUN! A tight neck is one thing. A tight barrel? You cannot go low enough on powder to keep psi down.
Jayson has been helping me. I have s 3 shot group now at just over .25"
I want to say, Jayson is one hell of a guy. If you havent had the chance to meet him, i suggest you do! Very knowledgeable and easy to chat with. He has given me a look at what this rifle can really do!!
Ok, i was using retumbo but seemed a little temp sensitive. Plus last year i think i had some bad primers. I would pull the trigger and have anywhere from a 1-3 second time lapse before the round would go off.
Any new updates on this? I have a similar problem with my edge. Shooting 83.5 - 84g of h1000, 1 out of 5 rounds will stick. Been doing some reading and i am just starting to bump the shoulders back. Only 2 - 3 shots in this brass and have gone through a ton of very expensive brass since i got...
I have 200g ELD-X for my wife's 300wm. Was reloading it with RL23 but cant seem to find my data. Anybody used this combo with any luck?
Any known data would help.
Thank you very much for the information! It has been a decent gun so far, getting close to my load now. 3/4" at 300 yards. Looking forward to elk season this year!
How do you tell if you have the rivet style or rivetless style extractor? Looking to replace mine and not sure which one to get. I have a lack of options for a gunsmith where I live, Not within a few hundred miles anyway.
i am having similar issues. Mine is a remington 700 sps in 300 UM that I had turned into a 338 Edge. The load data I was given was very wrong. Over pressured the cases and have had trouble ever since. When it was a 300 UM, I never had trouble with the gun. Now, nothing but trouble.
I should...
I personally like to start at 3/4 of max load and work up from there. People have been telling me to work up in 1g increments until you get your accuracy and then fine tune from there. Also good to play with seating depths if your magazine will allow.
I am still playing with the 210g hunting...
Ok. That's what I thought. This has a sporter barrel so it is pretty thin. When I am target shooting I give it time to cool a bit between shots. I try not to let the barrel heat up that much and I clean it when I get home. Guess I should start saving for another barrel.
Would it make a...
Yea I noticed that. I was giving somewhere between 2-4 minutes between shots and cleaning the barrel between each group. The barrel was still warm but not too hot too touch and hold on to. Of course I was shooting off of my tailgate because they are working on our range. I have heard Bergers...
