    Favorite Dangerous Game Round

Strangely enough my elk fell to a 430 grain hard cast lead bullet from a 45-70 Guide Gun this year at 35 yards......hardly long range. I thought I had missed the elk it disappeared from sight so fast. But in truth it hadn't taken a step after the bullet hit it & dropped like the proverbial "bag...

    Water Buffalo?

The lowly 375 H&H has been shooting "the big 5" dead for years on African plains but of course now you need a 20 mm cannon to do the same job. I have a Savage Brush Hunter in .375 Ruger and it has taken an elk for me so far with a Leupold 3-9x40mm Rifleman scope on top. Excellent...

    SOLD/EXPIRED **SOLD**Marlin Guide Gun .450 Marlin

Re: Marlin Guide Gun .450 Marlin I think the new Remlin/Marlin factory dropped the .450 Marlin version of the 1895 Guide Guns (GGs) because the new GGs can't be trusted at .450 Marlin SAAMI published pressures because of workmanship and quality control issues. The SAAMI maximum pressures for...

Do you ever go on outfitted hunts?

Canned hunts? Went on one for hogs. I don't consider it very sporting if they tie the hog to the tree with a rope shorter than 10'. :D About as challenging and "fair chase" as buying a package of sausages at Loblaws.

    Do you hunt coyotes?

Little lever action coyote gun Have a 16" bbl. M92 lever action in .357 Magnum that would be a perfect little gun for coyote, wolves, deer or black bear. It weighs in at just 4.8 pounds. Can carry it all day & not even notice it.

    SOLD/EXPIRED .416 rem mag brass,New,100 pieces

New .416 Rem Mag brass is as rare as chickens teeth. Remington started this caliber in 1989 I believe and now they won't answer you when you inquire about getting new brass. I'll remember their product support whenever I'm thinking about buying any of their newfangled stuff from now on. Only...

    454 Casull data

And neither does WW296 for that matter. The gurus say to reduce these powder a maximum of 3% and work up from there. H-110 & WW296 are a lot alike. Some like me use magnum primers with the above 2 powders........there are varying opinions in this regard.

    do you crimp?

An opinion without actual experience is just hot air I've heard the Lee Crimp dies and the theory of crimping bullets without cannelures seriously knocked but usually by people who have never tried them. I haven't tried them yet but will in the future. The jury is out til then.

    do you crimp?

I don't for most jacketed bullets. An exception is a particularly hard kicking load for one of my .300 Winchester Magnums because this cartridge has such a short neck. I do for lead bullets. I don't when using jacketed bullets in straight cased calibers like most revolver calibers because...

    Nice gun.

Wow, no one been to Alaska

Alaska hunting sounds a lot like work. Great for those who can afford it and are financially solvent enough to be able to move supplies and meat + themselves by air. Pretty well need a reefer unit in your truck box to haul the meat to anywhere in the lower states by land vehicle and dealing...

    454 Casull hunting at 100yds+

Now that we're on the topic of long range hunting with the .454 Casull cartridge. I'm going to develop a hand load for my Rossi Puma .454 (mod 92 knockoff) with the Hornady 250 grain FTX bullet (designed for 450 Bushmaster). The .454 rifle velocities with the 250 grain bullet will be in about...

What brand of porting for 454 Casull

I don't find the recoil from my 7.5" barrel Ruger Super Redhawk in .454 Casull that bad even with the factory Winchester 300 grain FPs. It's not a plinking gun by any means but I can pop off 10 or so full power rounds at the range with no problem. A friend ported his Freedom Arms .454 and...
