    Hodgdon powerder outside the US

I don't like your chances of exporting powder from NZ. Probably a better option for US based people would be out of Australia. Hogdon Varget is made in Australia and marketed there as AR2208. Most Hogdon rifle powders are in fact made in Australia by ADI (now Thales). Check out their website.

    Tikka T3 accuracy issue

As I read it. You changed out the stock, rifle shot well the first outing, second time not so good. Then you had the stock bedded and rechecked the mounts (torqued etc). First time out it shot well, second time not so well. Still sounds like the Talley's might be the source of your troubles...

    Tikka T3 accuracy issue

I have had a simlarly frustrating issue with a Tikka T3 in 7mmRM. Ultimately traced the problem to the Talley mounts shooting loose over about ten rounds. The problem was made worse by a rearported muzzle brake and the dual pulse recoil that these things generate. Bonded and torqued them many...

    HSM 270win. 150gr. Berger VLD

Me as well. I'm getting 2788 fps with 150 VLDs and H1000. I thought my load was pushing the boundaries in a 270 Win.

FPS to add per foot from chrono screens?

The way I back calculate actual MV from a chronograph reading is as follows. Set your ballistics software to out put in one yard increments, enter your recorded MV under the shooting conditions, edit the MV value upwards until your measured velocity is shown at the distance you had the...

Any luck with 175 gr SMKs in 7 Rem Mag?

Try a non magnum primer. I halved by groups when going from Fedral 215's to 210's using both Retumbo (AR2225 here) anf H1000 (AR2217 here).

    Loose mounts

I'm not sure the base is the only issue. I have the exact same one (aluminum) on another 7mmRM that is un-braked and has had over four hundred rounds sent through it. A Sendero with a 6.5-20x50 Mk4. I'm thinking that it is probably the combination of the light rifle, heavy scope, aluminum rail...

    Loose mounts

Thanks Nimrodmar10. Sounds like a good idea to try a steel base. I will have to see if I can get one for a Tikka in this country. Nightforce are available for half the price of the whole rifle. I might have to go to Sako Optilock Tika rings. They are only available in low though, so I will have...

    Loose mounts

I have a Tikka T3 Lite in 7mmRM. It has a Mk4 6.5-20x50 Leupold, PRW rings, and an EGW 20MOA rail fitted. It is stock other than a rear ported muzzle brake that I had fitted about twelve months ago. Prior to fitting the brake this was a consistent 0.5 MOA shooter. Shortly after the brake was...

    Primer issues

I have two WLR primers let go. Both with starting loads that I have since worked up to higher loads (under max). The first was in a Winchester coyote 308. The second was in a Tikka T3 in 243. Neither was a firing pin perforation. Both were leaking about quarter of the way around the outside of...

most accurate out of the box factory rifle?

Out of the box - Considering value for $ here in New Zealand the Tikka T3 is very hard to go past. Being SS synthetic and including rings in the box it is the same price or cheaper than any silmilarly spected rifle available in the country. As far as throwing a scope on and shooting a rifle sub...
