I have used for about 35 years a 338 GIBBS and found the 280 Rem drass the best to use. Can get 3000 with 200gr, 2965 with 210gr and 2865 with 225gr. Great rounds the GIBBS line you will enjoy it!

Being retired I agree 100%. First I get it evaluated then go from there.

Magnum manic thanks for the information. My coal to the rifling is 3.767. For smooth operation of shells from mag I have coal of 3.365. I have used rl-22, rl-25, rl-26, 7828ssc, magpro, H-1000, imr-4831 and best groups to date, about 2+”, are with 150gr bullet and imr-4350, CCI-250 primers...

Rich. Where is Sean located? I contacted WBY first thing after I found the best group at 100ybs with expensive factory ammo was 2”. Their response was as disappointing as the weapon! WBY would be happy to rebarrel but original spec’s ONLY! 1 in 10 twist with free bore of AT LEAST .378! 6...

No I have not shot it passed 100. With such poor groups at 100 I didn’t see the use of going beyond, but if I did go out to 450yds., which I can do, what would it tell me that I don’t already know from my 100 yd groups? AIRBORNE

Xsn10s I just noticed that residue on the crown. Is there a method a layman can use to determine if what you say is a fact? That could be the problem or one of several but if I can eliminate it then that will help narrow the search.
