Seeing them, and being close to them, are two different things. The first will give you some great photographs. The second, may make you their lunch. Never go into Grizzly country without some heavy firepower.
Rattlesnakes can only strike about two thirds of their length. So a 6 footer can only strike about 4 feet. So you can get close and put a bullet in their head.
Yes, Texas also has some penned hunting ranches, but there are many more "free range" ranches. People ask, how can it be free range on a single ranch? Well, when the ranch is 100 square miles or more in size, you do the math.

In Texas there are many ranches/ outfitters that have Scimitar oryx for hunting. A 5day exotic hunting license is 38 bucks. Just Google scimitar oryx texas, plenty of choices. These are guided hunts with trophy fees.
It's all about economics. Yes, guided hunts in Texas cost money. But, an out of state license is only $315 and includes white tail and mule deer tags. No points, no drawings. So, you can easly schedule your hunt. Is it worthwhile to save for a known outcome, or take your chances on luck?
Got my Granddaughter a Savage 110 Ultralite in 270win. So far she has two one shot kills. A Blackbuck at 295yds and a Mullie at 427yds. Using factory Ammunition. HSM 130/150 g Berger vld-h. 500yds is a given, 600 depends on the shooter.
Hey, come to Texas and hunt the exotics. Most of them are Antelope or sheep that don't lose their horns like deer type animals. You can hunt them year round. Here's what's available,

I got my granddaughter a savage 110 Ultralite lefthand in 270win. It's also offered in 6.5prc and 7prc. So far she has baged a Blackbuck at 295yds and a large mule deer at 427yds. It's all about marksmanship, you don't need a big magnum for west Texas hunting. Check out the Savage.
