    Elk rifle setup advice

    I shot my first elk with a 6.5x284 and 140g Berger at 300 yds in his bed....he never stood up. The 6.5 is very lethal if you shoot it well. If you need an excuse to build a new rifle though I understand. I'd rather spend my money on another hunt, just my $0.02
