    Vortex Viper 4x16x44mm HS LR.

I have the Vortex 4x16-44 HS-LR mounted on a heavy barreled Grendel AR. For the price,it’s a pretty good optic,in my opinion. I use it for deer hunting in open areas, and steel and bowling pins out to 600 yards. the turrets do lock so bumping them during a hunt is not an issue. The FOV isn’t huge...

    Sub caliber tumbling media?

I used rice for years in a rotary tumbler, before I heard about crushed walnut and corn cob,and it worked well. The only issue I ran into was it filled up the primer pockets and occasionally got stuck in flash holes, creating another step in the cleaning process. I have since gone to wet tumbling...

Anyone every thought.....How to sell your entire Reloading Setup & Supplies......

I work at local gun shows with a guy who does store close outs and estate sale buy outs for reloading supplies and equipment. He often posts videos, like one he did this week,of items that came in from a buy out.He received a bunch of big bore molds that were from an estate sale, and in very good...

    Rice to clean brass?

When I started handloading rice was what my mentor used,so I did too. I worked in a grocery store, and supplied him with our damaged bags. We found that short grain rice didn’t get stuck in the primer pockets as bad as the regular, long grain. Both cleaned the same.

    Finer Points of Reloading

I wear the same shirt when I work at a reloading booth at the local gun shows. I get some dirty looks, and some chuckles.

    Finally found primers

I frequent the local gun shows, and work at a booth for a buddy who has a reloading business. Most of my”pay” is components, but lately I don’t get primers from him,as the prices are so high and he gets so few in. I did find SSP,and LPP last week at our local Sportsman’s Warehouse,though,for...

    Brass catcher

I use a Caldwell when hunting, and find it work fairly well. For shooting at the bench,I’m using a fold up mesh laundry basket. I set it close to the rifle, and put some weight inside to keep it from blowing off. It’s pretty effective, and folds up flat to fit easily in my range bag. When shooting...

    Favorite deer rifle

My current favorite is a Ruger #1A chambered in 7x57. I’ve owned the rifle for many years, but could never get acceptable accuracy with it,until recently. After years of experimenting with different bullet, powder, seating depth combinations with little success,I finally found a load it shoots...

308 Win with H380 Load Starting point

I’ve seen real good accuracy with H-380 in a couple 308s,but with 150 and 165 NBTs.Mostly mid range loads, not really long range hunting type loads, but we had two or three that really tightened up with the combination. I use H-380 in my 30/06 also, with 150s for all my deer loads, and have for...

A couple of questions for you guys!

I normally just run the expander down far enough to clean up the necks, but I chamber a few before loading them just to be sure I don’t get any surprises. With the 458 Socom,I’ve found it necessary to resize new brass or it’ll give chambering issues.

Does anyone else do their long range hunting from a treestand or from the ground ?

Nearly all my deer hunting was done from tree stands,as I grew up in Florida, with most areas too thick to see very far on the ground. Still, shots were not usually longer than about 200 yards in most places. When I moved out west,I saw how scarce trees are,in Western Nebraska, and had to adjust my...

Trying to find accuracy in a 45-70 405 Gr Bullet with 4198 powder.

I have not loaded for the 45/70,but have several years of experience with the 444. I found that,at least in my rifle, loads near maximum with IMR 4198 gave the best accuracy. If you are shooting a Marlin,or other modern lever gun, higher pressure can be used. The manual should show different...

    Information needed on gun powder

If memory serves me correctly, the original 8208 was very popular with the bench rest crowd, and is still coveted. You may want to check with the Accurate Shooters site for information. You might expect to get offers to buy it,if that’s a consideration.
