I’ve been doing research on the 338 Lapua - since it has been suggested here so many times. Certainly an awesome round, but I’m not going down that road. I could more than double my range but I’d be losing too much of what I am looking for in this rifle. I think the 338 win will do what I want...

I’ve got a custom 416 rem for big stuff and a custom 284 win that I love for small stuff that would probably work for moose, but I want an in-between.

I really don’t want to put a break on the rifle. I won’t be pursuing any game past 500 yards. Realistically should be under 400. I’m thinking of shooting either 225 or 250 grain accubonds (not the LR version) or possibly Swift A-Frames in the same weight range.

Thinking hard about building another rifle on a Defiance action. This will be for hunting moose and bigger African plains game. Most of the folks I see building a 338 win are automatically looking at a 26-28” barrel. How would a 24” barrel do? Thank you for your thoughts.

Did you have any coating or finish put on the action or barrel, or is that just the stainless? I’m debating on how to finish the metal on my new build. I went with Nitride on my last defiance action and Gunkote for the barrel. Really like it but love the stainless look of yours.

I wet tumble mine with stainless pins - usually only after several firings. I have noticed they are too clean and bullets are harder to seat. The best solution I’ve found is, after I oven dry, throw them into the corncob media for a little while. It makes them not so “sticky”. I love the...

When I was debating on what to do initially- Stocky’s had them in stock. I bet theyd have no problem refunding you if it didn’t fit. Seems like a good place to work with.

Judging by the way the BDL bottom metal and magazine box fit inside the mini chassis - I just can’t see it being any different with the HS precision setup
