I’m not sure why you have had several people tell you to avoid the shoulder with the 120 TTSX. Speaking from experience they will shatter the shoulder coming or going. Femurs too. A 120 TTSX will weight about 120 grains after breaking the shoulder. A 160 Nosler Partion, which is one of the best...

Careful now. 5 shot groups aren’t a whole lot better statistically then 2 shot groups. Don’t be too quick to judge.

We’ve killed around 2 dozen elk with the Barnes 120 out of a 280 Remington at every conceivable angle. Including shattering shoulders and femurs. With the 100% weight retention they’ve been every bit as affective as 160 7mm Partitions. You’ll be fine.

I’m not really sure what’s going on between you two but if he thinks saying “burgers” is passive aggressive I think that’s his problem. Additionally we are each entitled to our opinions. And wether you believe Bergers are garbage on game or the best thing ever it is simply one persons opinion.

I have heard of a whole bunch of failure to expand also so it’s not really the opposite of what I know. You should listen to the podcast to see for yourself if it’s because of Hornady. I didn’t get that impression after listening to it but somehow you seem to think so without listening to it...

I’m just telling you what he said. I do know of several high velocity/close range blowups on elk shoulders though.

I found him to be very objective. He had equally good and bad to say about both Hornady and Berger.

I heard Aaron say that it’s hard to initiate expansion with the small untipped hollow point. The affect is exasperated at the reduced velocities. He said he always tries to hit bone with them. He also mentioned the opposite with tipped match bullets
