    Binocular choice

The Mk 4's are made in China and they are way better than most, just because they are made in China does not mean they are substandard, At the time of their release they cost around 6-700$ +, The Mk 4's made in China and have actually better glass and build quality than most brands and they are...

    Binocular choice

In terms of usability I bought a pair of Leupold Mk 4's 10x50s the Coyote coloured models with the Mildot Ret in them which are brilliant and a year or so back I bought the newer Leupold Tactical BX-2's with the "L" shaped Ret in them but I find the push pull eye cups annoying and the large...

When is it not considered an entry level Optic?

I still like the Leupold Mk 4's and the new Bushnell Tactical Scopes, I figured if the Leupold Mk 4 is good enough for the Army then it's good enough for me. But either brand are hardly budget models.

    Geovid sensor tolerances

I would try and meet up again with those guys and do more testing, huntsxhunta made a lot of sense in the thread below, It does not matter if the LRF cost 200$ 1000$ or 500K like what huntaxhunta is talking about, There might not be anything wrong with your Geo's X 3 pairs, it could be just what...

What's your cold weather backpack hunt clothing?

No I am an Aussie, I have never really worried about the weight of my kit, My coat has been tested down to -70 and below and my Boots are rated down to -148* and my Mitts are rated at -40*, Which might seem excessive but many years ago I nearly lost digits I decided that was never going to...

What's your cold weather backpack hunt clothing?

I have some serious cold weather and if it is real cold I use my SnugPak Antarctica 2c sleeping bag which is the same as their Antarctia RE which is rated down to a maximum of -50*c but I know of someone who used it down to -60*f, All my cold weather gear is rated lower than -40*f. John.

    Rangefinder in snow conditions

You Guys with the ConX or the ConX Combo should get in touch with Kestrel and see if they are still going to sell the Mystery Ranch Coyote/Dark Earth molle Pouch for these gizmo's, I got my optics people to import one from the US and it is really great and very heavily padded with a pocket for...

    Rangefinder in snow conditions

Yeah W,Bill that brightness can be an Issue, Mine is hard to see when it is set to number 3 if I point it up to the Sky on a bright sunny day, switch it to 4 and I can see it no problem, In the dark it is a touch bright on the lowest setting but only just ?. I have used it in the rain Snow Fog...

    Rangefinder in snow conditions

Yeah Now ya cooking, a lot of LRF's have a push and release type button but the ConX is the hold down type, Another thing Press the Mode button so the Target and the Trees symbols are not in the display then it is in Scan mode and it will range as you Glass and I think that in some conditions it...

    Rangefinder in snow conditions

Thanks for your educated reply, that is the point I was trying to make, A lot of people are quick to put down Rangefinders when they don't get a return, But what they don't realize is that tiny water droplets in the humidity can either give a false reading or no reading at all and when it comes...

    Rangefinder in snow conditions

No rangefinder will range perfectly when you add another layer of glass in front of it because you are in effect adding another Lens to it remembering that it is tuned only for the layers of Glass that the factory supplied it with, Another thing to remember is that it is designed for outdoor...

When is it not considered an entry level Optic?

Back when I started Leupold were the top of the heap and I think the only folks who had great optics as good were the S&B and premier that were fitted to the early AI rifles.

When is it not considered an entry level Optic?

Leupold and Bushnell both have top tier optics built for durability and longevity not to mention their dedication to the Tactical and Hunting world, Some of which are strapped on to .50 cals as standard equipment, Anything that can survive that kind of treatment has my respect.
