I have a Leupold 3.5-10x50 for deer hunting in Michigan where shots are 300 yards or less. I have a simple duplex. Not thin with no clutter. Perfect scope for low light conditions and for the range I’m shooting. Prices are under $400.

A mossberg Patriot 6.5 Creedmoor for about $350. Cheap price and shoots 1/2” @ 100yds. I have a Leupold on it that costs much more than the rifle. I also own a Patriot in .300 win mag and a Weatherby ultralightweight in 6.5-.300 that shoots groups a bit larger than the Patriots, too.

I use muck boots in northern Michigan and never had a problem with snake bites. It’s too difficult for snakes to strike from beneath 3 ft of snow.......

Great deal! I sold one last year for $1200 minus a scope. I did give him 3 boxes of ammo with the rifle. I sold it to buy a .416 rigby. The rigby w/brake kicks more but not unbearable. Congrats and enjoy.

I use 100gr Barnes ttsx in .257 in a Ruger #1V and a Weatherby ULW with a #1 contour. Both are used on antelope Mule deer and whitetails with pass through on lung shots. I like the Barnes performance but hate removing copper from barrels. Contact Barnes and they always help me find the bullets...

I have shot a whitetail in the neck straight on at 30 yards with 115 grain out of a .257 Wby. The bullet destroyed the spine. I only found fragments of the bullet. The same result at 407 yards with the rifle/bullet broadside on a whitetail. Destroyed lungs and rested at the others side inside...

I like the VLD's because 99% of all the deer, bear and elk have fell where they stood. What are your thoughts on the best bullets? We all have experienced certain ammunition they give us confidence and those that failed. I know I might get some feedback on this, but I have had complete failure...

Wild rose Have you shot any game with a VLD? I have shot them in 300 weatherby 257 weatherby 240 weatherby and 6.5-300 weatherby at velocities from 3300 to 3600 and as close as 50 yards.

I would choose the 6.5-300 wby. I have one in the ultra lightweight model and it shoots sub 1/2" three shot groups with 127 grain Barnes LRX. Just my opinion. I own a 257 weatherby mag with a 28" barrel in a Ruger #1. It shoots 3/4". I also have a 300 weatherby mark V my first rifle purchased...
