  • I am still shooting the Hybrids and I haven't killed anything yet this year, besides some coyotes. Our antelope season opens mid-oct and deer season is mid-nov. From what I have seen the Hybrids do, I will keep shooting them until something happens. If it does, I will go back to the 162 Amax more than likely.

I'm trying to find some Norma 300 SAUM brass, but I haven't found any yet. Some people have had concerns about the 7mm Hybrid's performance for a hunting bullet. I shot 2 Antelope this year, 544 and 599 yds, with both dropping in their tracks. Hopefully I will be busting a big SD buck next weekend. Goos luck and please keep me posted as your progress.
    Chris,
Congradulations on your purchase, you won't be disappointed. The best advise Jim has given me is to leave the chrony at home. I was too concerned about what numbers it spit out. I tried several bullet/powder combos in developing my load and even changed my mind a few times. My rifle doesn't like the Berger VLD's very much, likes the 162 Amax, and loves the Berger Hybrid. I'm shooting the Hybrid with 62 gr of 4831sc. That load is a few grains over book max, but it shows just a little signs of pressure. I have shot up to 63 grn with a good ejector mark, but the 62 was by far the most accurate. According to my drops (300 yd zero, 12.5 MOA at 800) I'm shooting the hybrid 3059 fps. I have not verified this, but it seems a bit fast. It is accurate though, sub 3" groups at 700 in good conditions, and shows just a faint ejector mark. I get at least 6 firings on Rem brass before the primer pocket loosens more than I like.
