    Most efficient .22 center fire

I actually built a 22x47 Lapua from 6.5x47 brass. Also a 6x47 and 20x47 Lapua. Only one brass type needed for 4 cases. I shoot Bibb 52 grain comp bullet. Extremely accurate and IMR 8208 works well. I use 1:8 twist and currently building load for Lapua 77 grain Scenar. No modifications to bolt...

    Advice Needed, Load Development

I would agree that H1000 is probably to slow. Ran it through GRT and it had incomplete burn rate (93%) at the end of the barrel. I ran H4831 ssc and N565 which both gave 100 bun rate. Also RL 16 and 19 may be good candidates.

270 SS (Sherman Shortmag) Load Data

Sent Rich and email about where to post load data and he provided me with this site. Have attached a file for the load data developed for my 7mm Sherman ss and 180 grain Lapua Scenar L bullet.

Testing Sherman 7mm ss with 180 gr Scenar L

I wanted a cartridge to be used primarily for competition, would function with moderate recoil and have efficient performance in windy conditions. My aim was to shoot 168 or greater grain bullets, initially starting with 180 grain Lapua Scenar L. At first, my selection narrowed down to the...

Long range varmint caliber , 6x47 Lapua !!

I built a 6.0x47 Lapua off a L579 receiver with a Shilen select match SS barrel 1:8 twist at 27 inches long. Housed in a Stockey's stock. This rifle likes 109 Bergers with just about any powder shooting well but RL 19 at 39.0 grains gave 0.20 to 0.35 groups.

    22X47 LAPUA

I have a Rem 40xbr that was set back and rechambered to 22x47 Lapua. I use a Bib 52 grain FB bullet. Barrel is 25 inches and speeds with RL 15 at 35.5 gr. are 3650. While the rifle was not intended for varmints, I have taken one Coyote at the end of my pasture about 200 yards. Devastating...

    My Experience with 300 PRC

Our shooting facility recently opened a 2,000-yard range. After doing some research, for shots greater than 1500 yards, all indications are that heavier bullets are beneficial because for extreme ranges they maintain momentum (M=KxV) so the higher the momentum the higher the retained velocity...

    Sako AV Dovetail base removal

I can see why it would stay true. There is a lot of work into the dovetail. One of the reasons probably why Sako firearms are a little more expensive. This my first 'true Sako'. I have a Browning Safari made in Finland given to me by my father. When I called Browning they indicated the...

    Sako AV Dovetail base removal

Hi Just purchased a Sako Picatinny rail from Neal manufacturing which I will want to mount. What is currently on the rifle is a set of Leupold standard base/rings. As you can see from the attached photo had no problem removing the front base. Used a wooden dowel and rubber hammer. Punched...

    Ignition Issue?

Hi LSherm Thank you for the reply. I have tried IMR 4895 IMR 4064, RL15, CFE 223 and TAC; all of which will give good groups but show the stringing effect. I have performed a ladder test using DFE 223 by varying the charges 0.1 grain aat +/_ 0.4 grains on either side of the best load and...

    Ignition Issue?

I have a 204 Ruger that I have been trying to find a load for. I am using Sierra 39 grain bullet and have found several powders including H414, CFE 223 and IMR 4064. All are showing vertical stringing like show in the attachment. The rifle was pillar bedded by my gunsmith. I have checked the...

    Reloader 23 in 6.5x55 Swede

Back from range. Final load of 44.5 grains RL23 reproduced group produced at 47.0 grains of RL 22 powder. Velocity was a little slower 2860 compared to 2883 but the SD was lowder 6 compared to 8 fps. One last thing. My rifle does not like the brass to exceed 2.1605 - the groups open up. I...
