416-338 and 338 Lapua whats the difference?

I can speak from experience regarding the Norma brass that Weatherby and the 416 Rigby use. The 416 Rigby is supposed to be a low pressure round, unlike the hot-rodded Weatherby rounds. If pushed, you're only going to get two good firing out of a case that costs $2.50. The 338 Lapua uses Lapua...

    How to blowup your rifle

The 338 bullet would not have chambered in the 30-378 chamber.

    How to blowup your rifle

I am indebted to the OP for the information he gave us. I don't know if I'll use the Retumbo or not...I've got IMR7828, H50BMG and Vita 20N29, all of which (except the 7828) I can load to 100% capacity even some compressed a little, and my ballistics program graphs the pressure spike and...

    How to blowup your rifle

I have a 30-378 Imp. It'll hold about 137 grains of water, or I think about 10% more than a standard 30-378. I shot my first 230 grain Berger over 103 grains of Retumbo. I got 3250 FPS on an Oehler 33 P chronograph. The temp outside was in the 70s. The velocity surprised me...a LOT. I had...

416-338 and 338 Lapua whats the difference?

Kirby, Do I have to have a rifle assembled in your shop to shoot one of your cartridges? Or can I buy a reamer for the .338 Allen Magnum and the brass and have my gunsmith build a rifle around your .338 Allen Magnum? Thanks, Ralph Jones

Best Scope in the $800 Range

The problem is I'm going to put my Hensoldt 6-24X72 on her rifle until I can buy the Sightron.

    most accurate long range shotgun.

The H&R Ultra Slugster in 20 gauge is the best kept secret in the hunting world. For $200.00, at times even less, you can get a H&R Ultra Slugster. I tried several shotguns, including Ithaca's Deer Slayer III. It had a 26" heavy barrel with no taper. Ithaca discontinued that model and I...

Best Scope in the $800 Range

I've never looked through a Sightron, but every review from other shooters I've read said the Sightron III can hang with any scope made optically. Dunno if that's true or not, but I'm going to find out. My next purchase is going to be a Sightron 6-25x50 SIII for my daughter's rig.

Elevation issue with viper hs-t 6-24x50

When your goal is to shoot long range you might as well be ready to spend a lot more money that you initially anticipate. While the rifle and scope are the heart of your pursuit you have other things you'll need as well. The first part, which you personally experienced, is buy and use quality...

The administration's assault on our 2nd Amendment continues

I don't think this administration cares if they are caught in the line of fire regardless of the activity they are engaged in. Oblunder has thumbed his keynian nose at our laws and the US Constitution with impunity since he was sworn into office, and with each transgression he becomes bolder...

    which shotgun to go with?

Get the Beretta Extrema II; you'll love it.

    Leupold elevation Max'd out

Your low rings aren't the problem. If you could get the scope laying on the barrel it should have enough internal adjustment to get waaaay past 200 yards. Something is not lined up right, rings are backward...something. You might check with Near Mfg. I'm sure Richard can cure your woes...

    Looking for a scope suggestion

    Who did that staggered barrel-fluting?

    Is this a scope issue

I would add just one thing to 'Yooper's advice; seat the first group with the bullets kissing the lands...not hard into them...just barely touching. A lot of rifles shoot their best groups with the bullets seated to some degree into the lands.

    Tasco 10X40X50 and WD40 don't mix ! !

The WD-40 will gum up the internals of the firearm as well. It's a Water Displacement formula that they got correct on the 40th try; hence, WD-40. I might use it if my handgun or long gun became immersed in a body of water, but only if it were immersed. Get a cleaner and a lubricant...
