Hunting 4 legged geurilla grocery grubbers

I used the green kill lights from outdoor solutions. They are all solar, and can be set by timer or motion. They have gradual fade on and off options, to avoid sudden shadows. Idk what they cost now, they were 60 bucks each several years ago.

Hunting 4 legged geurilla grocery grubbers

Second comment. Hogs are largely nocturnal, and have karge ranges,so thermals and big enough pieces of land, are your best bet. BUT, on the cheap you can night by using passive sighting vs expensive thermal or night vision sights. ( note this not legal for deer! Or anything considered a game...

Hunting 4 legged geurilla grocery grubbers

I have lived ( because of either my Father’s occupation or later my own) in Africa, South Ametica, and within the US, on both coasts and the South. I say this because I have seen and participated in different hunting cultures. I consider myself a native Texan and I can tell you beyond a doubt...

    Getting the right weight rifle

Wow, i wrote that last reply and it hung up and didn’t post. It looks like a few more comments came in while it was in limbo, that address balance just as I was trying yo expand on. Option 1-So the new Christiansen Ridgline with carbon fiber stock in addition to the carbon fiber barrel, is a...

    Getting the right weight rifle

Gentlemen, I greatly appreciate the redponses so far. This is my take on summarizing… We already know that recoil tolerance is subjective , and as I suspected, answers range from 7 to 12 pounds. Lol. The majority of responses seem to indicate that 9-10 pounds is good for 300WM. Other responses...

    Getting the right weight rifle

I grew up a horrible shooter. My dad put a .30-06 in my hands when it was too much for me. He gave me rem corelokt 180s because there were elk and deer overlapping. It wasn’t until, the Army put 5.56 in my hands that I learned to shoot well. I’ve spent 27 years since then developing knowledge...

    Real Hunters?

I would challenge the notion that a spear is old-fashioned… by the simple realization that its invention/ development was to progress technology from the state before it. Every innovation has done the same. “Old-fashioned” is using the best available technology….this whole post is confusing one...

    Real Hunters?

So you use technology invented in the 1800s over the technology used througout history and have the nerve to pronounce yourself superior to anyone using technology invented/ or improved after what you use? Or someone that uses the exact same technology to magnify an image, but does it a bit more...

    Maine Black Bear Hunt!!!!

I second the thermacell. Mosquitoes ate me the first hunt, but luckily a guy in camp got one on day one and loaned me his thermacell. I used the earth scent, it allowed me to be still instead of swatting and was cover scent also. our guide gave us a small vial of cedar oil for cover scent. I...

    Maine Black Bear Hunt!!!!

I shot a Maine black bear Sep 11, 2019. I took what I had, 300WM with Viper5-25. It was way too much scope, and stayed on 5 power. I was glad to have something that picked up that much light though. I saw 2 boars, both at last light, by minutes. The lighted reticle was a life saver. My god...

    700P vs Sendero FS II

I have rem 700 5r gen 2, in 300wm. Its 8.5 lbs and with viper pst2 5-25 and a suppressor it weighs 12 lbs. has less than 100 rds through it. Did a break in, zeroed it, and took it to Maine ( killed black bear last week). Bad news is my best groups so far are only .75, good news is my worst...

Hunting from the ground with a ghille suit

While hunting a very large wheat field on a buddy’s place, a group of deer kept giving me the slip. It seemed no matter how quietly I moved, or circled the field in the tree line and then came back out, these dang deer were always on the opposite corner... that evening I ghillied up and moved to...
