Do any of you guys know of a quality fishing multi tool that has the ability to cut hooks, cut braided line, spread split rings, and close open-eye hooks?
Seek Outside. I have their Unaweep 4800 and love it, best backpack I’ve used yet. I’m 6’1” and use their 4” frame extensions which allows for weight to be shifted between shoulders and hips. I set it for anywhere from 0-20% of pack weight carried on my shoulders and the rest on my hips. Being...
What can I say, your bullets are consistent and easy. I’d like to try the 140s in order to get more speed but I’d have to get some faster powder. But as they say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I’ll probably just stick with what I got to put meat in the freezer.
100 yard 3 shot group
35 Whelen
18” Shilen barrel
Savage action
McMillan HTG stock
Elite Iron Sierra suppressor
Norma brass
57.6 grains IMR 4895
Federal 210
200 grain Shock Hammer
2625 FPS
57.2 and 58 grains produced great groups as well during round robin load testing. Good enough for short...
I just picked up a Viper HS 2.5-10x44 for my Sako 270 Win. I was actually considering one of the Trijicons too but I went with the Vortex because I preferred the eye box. I almost went with the Viper HS 4-16 but I didn’t really need the extra magnification.
X2 for the Frankford Arsenal. I like how it catches the spent primers. One of the spare bushings doesn’t want to stay attached to the tool but other than that it works great.
I was also thinking the 117 Hammers. Loaded to 3300 fps, they still manage over 2300 fps at 400 yards. The partitions or accubonds will do a fine job though.
I live in an RV full time. I haven’t tried a portable table but I have had good success with the Frankford Arsenal Platinum Series Reloading Stand. I use a Redding Big Boss II press and load for 35 Whelen and 6.5 Creed.
Thanks. Yeah, it’s proving to be a shooter, even with factory ammo. I got it off the used rack at a gun shop. My first load test was with 140 eld-ms and H4831sc and one of the powder charges produced this 3-shot group. I loaded up more of that charge weight and attached the chrono and got this...
I appreciate all of the input. I got hung up looking for three graduations that grouped similarly. There aren’t three that group similarly, but there is a pair that groups similarly: 40.8 and 41.2. Thanks for pointing that out guys. I’ll play around in there some more.
