    Cold bore shooting/ Clean barrel

jrg, Here's something you can try. Get a hold of the most concentrated isopropyl alcohol (meaning the highest percentage...I can't find anything higher than 91%) and the next time you clean your gun, leave it that way and take it to the range for a test shoot. Prior to firing with your perfectly...

    pressure signs (updated with picture)

Teampete, You are wise to decide against adding another grain of powder to an already near max load which is showing possible high pressure signs. I seat loads .010 off the lands of my custom 300 WM, however, (as mentioned before) every rifle is different. What may help you to understand is the...

    Trick to jumping bullets???

Use a process of elimination. If you want to know if it's because of a 40-70 thou jump, roll some rounds longer for a much smaller jump and hand chamber each one to test your theory.

    LongRange Shooting Spotter

I live in Perris and go to a local area about 5 miles from me. It is not an official shooting range, but it's a good spot and people go to shoot all the time. Ranges consist of 50, 100, 200, 250, 500 yards and further.

cant get my gun to group

Sounds like something is loose..ie, your action screws, scope mounts, etc. I wouldn't suspect a nicked crown or something seriously damaged on account that your groups are not consistent in size. What is a viable indicator is that you said your groups tend to be tight regarding windage, but your...

    Tumbled bullets = poor accuracy?

If a frontal cavity had tumbling media in it, it would definitely alter the bullet’s internal and external ballistics. On a secondary note, there is a reason why you hardly hear of reloaders tumbling their bullets. When you tumbled off the moly of your bullets, you also reduced the diameter of...

    Long range hunting magazine?

I never cared for gun magazines, no matter what specific category they targeted. The articles are written by people who generally lack sufficient knowledge in order to accurately write about the subject they're writing about. Granted, much of what you may read in mags may be credible, but I've...

    Southern California

It's a range. Never been there myself (I live further north and have my own 'neck of the woods' type), but the word is there is a membership fee ($50.00 annual), free for active duty and active LEO. However, you can sign yourself in as a guest without a sponsor up to 3X before they ask you to...

    Stupid reloading moments...

My close call was having reloaded 10mm and took the batch out shooting. One of the taper crimps wasn't tight enough and the hammer fell when my much younger friend pulled the trigger...click, but no bang. Naturally, he racked the slide to extract the 'dud' and chambered the next round from the...

    mirage question

A few months ago I was zeroing at 500 yards. Little to no wind and shooting at a home made zeroing target with 1 inch squares. During the course of an hour, I adjusted fire and drew to the center of the bull. I took a break for about half an hour and then began firing at 1 gallon milk jugs...
