Pro-wolf folks try to suppress this.

There was a good reason for killing them out. They do not play well with others. And the goody 2 shoes idiots that want them back have a permanent case of cranial anal insertion!! They cost tax payers thousands of dollars every year. Most states have to pay for damages to live stock by them...

How is any sporterized rifle with a 2 piece scope base accurate?

If you are worried about breaking screws, drill the holes out for 8-40's. As far as alignment problems, I have used Burris Signature rings for years. You can get the ring inserts in various thickness. Never failed to cure any alignment problems. Plus, as one person said, they will not mar your...

What is the rifle you passed by that you regret not buying

Not a rifle, but a pistol. Probably the biggest mistake I ever made, but hard for a college kid in 1968 to have extra cash. Union Switch and Signal 1911 in probably 80% condition for $100.00. 2nd biggest mistake, passing on a Winchester Model 54 22 Hornet with Stith mount and Lyman Alaskan...

I’d like to restock a model 70, not as many options as 700’s and clones.

I had a customer who wanted his M70 Classic Sporters stocks replaced with McMillians. He had 4 of them. Had to cut the front lug area deeper on all 4. No more Macs for me. In my opinion, HS Precision is the best and Bell & Carson 2nd, especially with their prices.

    favorite deer caliber

You might guess what my favorite is. Got my first one in 1966. A custom FN Mauser with a Douglas Premium barrel and a Canjar set trigger. Redfield 4-12 scope. Have went thru 2 more since then. My favorite one now is a Remington SS Mountain rifle with a laminated stock. Used Sierra 100 gr BT's...

Can you identify this gun manufacturer ?

Possibly built by a smith in a one man shop. From what I understand there were a lot of those type of shops in Europe before 1900. August Pachmayer was one of them.

What to buy? NX8 or MK5HD

IMO, if you are hunting more than target shooting, and your shoots are under 5-600 yards, or especially in heavy cover, I much prefer a 2nd FP. scope. If mostly target and longer ranges hunting, a FFP scope would be preferable.

What is a Really Good Hunting Knife

You might want to take a look at Kershaw's line of knifes. You will pay a little more money if you buy one with S30V steel, but you will not have to sharpen them as often. Also like the cold steel knifes with the San Mia steel blades and Benchmade makes very good knives as well. S30V, CM 154...

    Which barrel?

I have used Shilen, Pac-Nor, Kreiger, Lilja, Douglas and Shaw barrels on my custom rifles and had excellent results with all of them.

    New old .25 cal wildcat

Back in the mid 60's a friend of mine had a rifle built on an old 1917 Enfield. I think it was called a 257 Condor. 264 Mag necked down to 25 caliber. Turned out to be a very nice shooting rifle with a 26" Douglas barrel. Easily reached 257 Bee velocities. Reinventing the wheel?

    .350 Rem Mag

I used an early Ruger 77RS with a Redfield 1-4x post reticle for elk hunting for years. Used Speer 250 gr RN for bullets and if memory is correct, 4064 powder. Do not remember the powder charge, but would group about 5/8" for 3 shots at 100 yds. Always DRT!! Always hunted in timber and around...

6.5 prc enough gun for elk

Agree with SDC2, Hunted elk several times. 338 was my favorite. With all the people hunting now, you want something that will put them down. That way you will not have to try and track them down and risk someone else getting them. Saw that happen 3 different times. Big bulls are tough critters.

    M70 action sear pin

Sir, sorry, did not know what type of pin was on the Montana action. I have model 70 sear pins. they measure .544 overall length, pin dia. is .159, pin length is .400, head dia. is .368. Mine are blued. You can get them from Mid West Gun 636-475-7300. If they will not fit, you might try...
