Baiting is prohibited, I have no interest in using hounds, and I picked out areas on onx that are far away from private land.

I have a handful of spots picked out on on-x but I’m just going to wing it and see what they look like when I get there. Going mid May, have about 5 days for just hunting.

Saw lots of bear sign, mule deer, and grouse but no bears. Drew a controlled hunt tag for spring bears in idaho, hopefully better luck this time.

I was lucky enough to draw a tag for the idaho 8001 controlled hunt. I have hunted chukar in the lower elevations but has anyone hunted bears in unit 22 or 31?

Good news, I was able to get my vacation switched around and will be there for fall season opener. Is there any sort of recreation pass or anything i will need on top of my hunting license to backpack out there?

Unfortunately not, the way vacation works at my job early October is the best I can do.

I am starting to put together a rough plan for a fall black bear hunt this fall. Never been hunting in Montana but read lots of articles. Planning to backpack hunt, I’m not looking for hotspots but has anyone hunted bmu 150? Worried it might have to many hikers and/or just have poor bear...
