Lowest velocity the Berger Hunting VLD expands?

Thanks for the answers guys, I do appreciate it. I think though, after further testing of both the 130 VLD and the 143 ELD-X in a side by side shootout, I am going to go with the 143 ELD-X this year.

Lowest velocity the Berger Hunting VLD expands?

I am testing the Berger 6.5/130 VLD Hunting bullet in my 6.5 Creedmoor. It is shooting good for me and I may end up using it this fall for my Whitetail deer bullet. At a 2850 FPS muzzle velocity out of my 22" barrel it shows to still make 1000 FPE at 750 yards, with a remaining velocity of...

My baby girl needs a rifle

My daughter started shooting my CZ-527 in 223 when she was 5. She shot her first deer with it when she was 6, and has shot several more since then. I had her using the old discontinued 60 grain Nosler solid base, but there are quite a few good bullets for the 223 that will work. 64...

    Hornady ELD-X Official Thread

I have read most of this thread and still haven't seen any data on the .277/145 ELD-X. I just got my load worked up for one so thought I would share. Rifle is an old R-721 that was trued and had a 10 twist Hart barrel installed by Mike Bryant probably 6-8 years ago. Back then we didn't shoot...

    Callers....what are you using?

Don't know what is best, but know what I am using. Original Foxpro CS-24 that was Dad's before he passed away. He had it on the tripod, but I jury rigged a Foxjack decoy onto it. Simple, tough, good sound and volume. IMO, can't beat it for getting the job done, but is kind of pricey. Then...

    Newbee looking for some advice

^^^^ Good post. edit to add: Remember that when coyote calling anything can happen. Sometimes (a lot!) you do everything right and it doesn't work. But the converse is also true. There are days that even on some sketchy stands it seems like there is a coyote behind every bush. You just...

    Lets Get It Started !!!

Sometimes we night call out of the rack. Yesterday evening I was set up sniper-hide style over a dead cow in 25+ mph winds. Yesterday morning (calm) I was hiking into sets solo and calling. Just depends when/where/what style I am doing as to what method I employ.

    Lets Get It Started !!!

Most of my stuff is really pretty basic. The CS-24 is the old original model without sequences, Foxbang, and of that. Just solid electronics, 10 presets, and a great speaker. It will hold like 500 sounds, but I just have about 60 on it. It was Dad's machine before he passed away a couple...

    Newbee looking for some advice

To me, the biggest factor in success is not sounds or equipment, it is scouting. Scouting entails several aspects. First off, the most obvious part is that there have to be coyotes in that area. Sounds basic, I know, but it is true. More importantly though, they have to be coyotes that are...

    Lets Get It Started !!!

Yeah, some days it works, some it doesn't! Last night was beautiful, zero wind. My son and I went night calling out of the rack, called 6 stands in awesome country that had been called very little. Could hear tons of howling, some of it close. Threw everything but the kitchen sink at them...

    Lets Get It Started !!!

Yes, here in the TX Panhandle. We don't get snow all the time but get a decent dose 8-10 times a year. Got our first good snow for the year last weekend. I love hunting snow, but don't get to call in it as often as I would like! On that stand I called in a pair, and shot the female in the...
